NXT Roadblock (2025) was a professional wrestling television special produced by WWE for its NXT brand division. It was the fourth annual NXT Roadblock and the sixth Roadblock event overall. The event took place on March 11, 2025, at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York and aired live as a special episode of NXT on The CW. The event also featured wrestlers from partner promotion Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA). The event's title is a reference to its position on the road to Stand & Deliver, NXT's WrestleMania weekend event.
I'm not even going to front but I'm GLAD to see Fraxiom lose finally. I know that they have been on one hell of a run as the NXT Tag Team Champions but they had no business even dreaming of beating a legendary tag team like the Hardyz in their first encounter. I'm sure that they are going to get their win back whenever they cross the forbidden door to challenge them in a TNA ring with their titles on the line, but this was a great match for what it was.
I haven't been keeping up with the Hardyz' matches over in TNA since they migrated back over there since leaving AEW, but I'm just happy to see them not moving around in slow motion anymore.
To Fraxiom's credit, those guys are great workers and excellent at their high spots. I just wish they had a deeper pool of talent in that NXT tag team division to work with instead of half-assed teams they pulled together of singles guys and green tag teams that don't have much experience under their belts to make these matches interesting. A match like this against a legendary veteran team like the Hardyz will only make them even better, but at the same time, highlight how barren that tag team landscape is on NXT that they have to call over TNA's talent over to fill in the gaps.
I'm going to get heat for saying this, but I thought this was the better of the two women's matches on this card. It was mostly due to the psychology behind Roxanne's offense that told the story for this match bell-to-bell as she worked Grace's legs to level the playing field between them. It was a wise strategy as it took a lot of Grace's power game out of the equation until she was finally able to bite tooth and nail through the pain to finish Roxanne off with the Grace Driver.
I have to continue wondering how long is WWE going to continue bouncing Roxanne between NXT and the main roster. She's up to two main event roster PLE appearances followed by her appearance in this PLE-style event on free television for NXT. I think it's a safe bet to make that she will be main roster bound full-time following WrestleMania season. She is well beyond ready at this point, even though this brand will miss her severely. They can't help it though when this women's division is popping at the seams with stellar talent, even more so than the main roster currently.
If I were to speculate from this win from Grace, she's going to be the next one in line to challenge for either the NXT Women's North American Championship or NXT Women's Championship at Stand & Deliver no matter what happens in the main event.
I dare say this was my favorite match of the entire night. This match had no business being this goddamn good. Moose has been GREAT for years, being one of TNA/IMPACT Wrestling's best kept secrets on their brand. He would have been in WWE's system even sooner if they didn't pick up Apollo Crews instead of him while he was still getting his bearings about him in Ring of Honor. Meanwhile, Oba Femi is doing what I wanted from him as NXT Champion - laying waste to all up and comers.
Simply put, this was one of those "big meaty men slappin' meat" fights that everyone loves to see. I hope they don't rush Oba Femi up to the main roster. He needs to stay in NXT at least another year or so to hone his craft. They don't need to have him AND Bron Breakker on the main roster meandering around the midcard when those two could be main eventing and/or headlining a future WrestleMania in a few more years. No need to rush those two when there's so much more seasoning that could be had with this guy. Plus with NXT's roster so depleted right now, they need to keep him in this position as the champion just straight up killing guys until they do rehab this roster in the coming year.
Last but not least, this System thing in TNA STILL a thing? Glad it had no impact (no pun intended) on the end result of this match though.
I had NO expectations going into this match as I'm currently pretty lukewarm on both of these guys. To Evans' credit though, I think he has nothing but an upside to working with a guy like Page, who can heel it up and make him look like a million bucks as the babyface fighting from underneath. Evans is a walking video game character, but Page is doing him wonders by getting him to slow down and register a lot of the moves that he's doing. That is what is going to separate him from 90% of the "flippy-guys" in wrestling who just do flips and don't sell anything. Even a little bit of selling does wonders to add to the story that they are writing in that ring.
I'm not even going to lie, but I selfishly wanted Page to reunite with Josh Alexander to reform The North in NXT to inject some life into this depleted NXT Tag Team division. If the rumors are true, then Josh Alexander is going to end up being AEW bound, so that sucks in that regard as a fan of that guy in my humble opinion. As for Page, I think he has a lot to offer this brand as they are still in the middle of a restructuring phase as new players are being introduced while older ones are being shuffled/traded out.
I still don't know what to think of this discount/Great Value Shield faction that keeps showing up and beating up people. I don't watch this show weekly nor regularly enough to care.
Truth be told, I wasn't a fan of this match being booked the second I saw it was announced on social media a few weeks ago following one of The CW episodes of NXT's weekly programming. I was in the mindset of that caliber of a match should have been saved for WrestleMania weekend, specifically Stand & Deliver coming up in another month, but once the news got out among the dirtsheets that one of these two women were injured, I understood what they had to do. I spoiled myself by knowing that Giulia was pretty banged up and needing time off to recover, missing WrestleMania in the process. Knowing that took the edge and drama off this match in a sense, but I wouldn't say that it killed the dynamic for this match for me. If anything, my only knock against this match was the pacing. It felt like they were going a mile a minute as if they were running out of time on The CW. One of my friends who watches regularly informed me that The CW isn't as generous as the USA Network with a regular overrun on these shows, so that was the reason for the pacing here. Vaquer and Giulia were going a mile a minute and barely taking time to register anything but at the same time, this was a hard hitting affair. At the end of the day, it was a thoroughly entertaining bout, but I felt that they gave viewers enough of a sample platter in terms of what they gave WWE fans in their first WWE encounter to chew on until they are able to run this back down the road.
I'm just in awe at how good these two women are and how they represent the future of this next generation of rising women stars for WWE. In terms of the women, the current crop of extensive talents on that NXT women's roster is STACKED and filled to the brim. WWE could do an entire women's show with this roster and have no problems keeping people interested. I can easily see why the women from the main roster are constantly jumping at the chance to come down there and work with them when and where they can. It's win/win all around.
In terms of Stephanie Vaquer being a double champion so soon into her WWE career, I'm fine with this. AEW fans saw her upstage the former Sasha Banks AKA Mercedes Mone in their first meeting prior to getting signed by WWE. She's been turning heads ever since she arrived in NXT in more reasons than one. I do feel like she's going to relinquish/vacate the Women's North American title for they could hold some tournament or something for that while defending the NXT Women's Championship against someone else - more likely Jordynne Grace at Stand & Deliver.
Overall, I thought this was great event for this current iteration of NXT. Shocking to see them pull out all of the stops this close to WrestleMania when most people would be phoning it in and playing it safe until then, especially for free television.
