Overview
Overview
We are group of academics and eager students at Tec de Monterrey, Mexico. We play with 3D printers and from everything we got out of them we try to understand their mechanics and materials. Our researchers are focused on a variety of topics, covering from the mechanical design and solid mechanics of structures, compliant mechanism, metamaterials, soft robots and novel materials for additive manufacturing, etc. Our lab hosts research projects that combine analytical, experimental and computational approaches while seeking the best solution to scientific or industrial challenges.

Objective
Objective
The advent of additive manufacturing technologies has triggered fantastic growth in the development of materials and structures with non-conventional properties. These are often known as metamaterials, which make use of cellular and lattice porous topologies. In this lab we explore different mathematical parametrizations and material properties to achieve unique properties of engineering components, e.g. compliant mechanisms and soft robots.

This lab is in direct collaboration with the Institute of Advanced Materials for Sustainable Manufacturing, the Advanced Manufacturing research group and the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering and Advanced Materials at Tec de Monterrey.
