In November 2024, the Conway Cross was been installed as a permanent display in the alcove in the upstairs area of the premises. Its preservation and display was funded by the Vietnam Veterans Association of Australia (Vic Branch). A more detailed outline of the history and significance of the Cross is described on a separate page elsewhere on this website.
During 2025 there are plans to add a few extra minor features to 'Conway Corner', including re-locating the eternal flame and signage which reflects the name of the area.
CHANGES TO THE MEMORABILIA AREA
The wall in the memorabilia area where there were two TV screens has been changed. Those screens have been replaced by a 'roll-down' screen to be used only when required by specific events in the area (for example, a slide show to accompany a 'wake'). The wall where the screens were installed have now been re-painted and a series of framed photos and prints have been hung on that wall and the adjacent one.
LIBRARY DISPLAY
The contents of the display were changed just before Anzac Day 2025. The current arrangement cis explained in the Occasional Displays section. The Memorabilia Group provides the Council with a new set of items twice each year – just before Anzac Day and just before Remembrance Day.
