victoria

2018-2019

'Victoria' is the third in a series of dances investigating the female performing body through character, voice, and metamorphosis. A fantasy of self-birth through dance-as-labor, this 15 minute solo slides between exuberance and devastation, peace and disaster, quiet and noise. ‘Victoria’-the-dance rides on the edge of Victoria-as-character, alternately the masterful witch, the tragic comedienne, and the howling siren, Victoria as an identity is de-and re-constructed through movement and manipulation of props. Collapsing textures and reflections of interiority, invisibility, wetness, emergence, volume, and nourishment, Victoria provides an alternate narrative of the sensual experience of female embodied life. Performed at SPACE Gallery (ME) May 2019, Movement Research Fall Festival at St Marks Church (NYC) Nov 2018, Lamoine Community Arts (ME) July 2018
