Thank you for visiting my art education portfolio page!
I am originally from Colorado, where I received my B.A. in Studio Art, and B.S. in Advertising at The University of Colorado in 2012. I knew I wanted to move to NYC to join the creative and art-filled vibrancy of this city after visiting with my choir in elementary school.
After graduating college, I was recruited by Teach for America, where I was invited to teach 5th grade science, and an art elective at a charter school in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. In 2014, I received my Masters (M.A.T.) from Relay Graduate School of Education.
I continued my journey in education at another charter school in East Harlem, where I taught Art to 2nd - 8th graders from 2014 to 2018. Currently, I am teaching art at an independent inclusion school where I have worked with every grade level and have been since 2020. (K - 12+)
I spent my brief time out of the classroom developing my artistic practice. I started my own upcycled jewelry company, Eagle Eye Shop, where I sold at craft fairs across the country and hosted adult craft workshops here in NYC. I have grown my personal practice working with found fabrics and exhibiting in Queens-based galleries, and was a fellow in the Jamaica Center for Art and Learning, Artist Inc. series.
In my free time, I am in my studio, at dance practice with my team 'The Tailshakers' who dances in parades around NYC, going to yoga class or reading a book.
