ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Megan Mathis! My work began with a simple goal: to help learners truly understand new ideas. Over time, that goal has grown into a practice of designing learning experiences that are both effective and visually clear. I combine thoughtful instructional design with engaging visuals to turn complex concepts into experiences people can grasp, retain, and apply. Along the way, I’ve guided teams, supported diverse learners, and created curricula that make a meaningful impact. Every project is an opportunity to connect ideas with understanding.

DESIGN PROCESS

Every learning experience I design follows a structured process to ensure clarity, engagement, and measurable results. Below is my approach to designing purposeful, learner-centered experiences, paired with the skills, tools I bring to each phase.

Analyze

Focus:

Identify learner needs, context, constraints, and performance gaps

Skills & Tools:

Conduct needs and learner analyses to define requirements
Apply Adult Learning Theory to guide instructional decisions
Collaborate with teachers and stakeholders to align learning objectives with organizational goals

Design

Focus:

Develop learning objectives, structure content, and map instruction

Skills & Tools:

Create measurable learning objectives and course outlines
Storyboard content and map instruction for ILT, VILT, and eLearning
Apply Microlearning and Design strategies
Plan projects and coordinate with stakeholders

Development

Focus:

Create multimedia, interactive, and accessible learning assets

Skills & Tools:

Build eLearning lessons using Articulate Storyline 360 and Rise 360
Script and produce instructional videos, including Closed Captioning
Edit multimedia using Adobe Premiere Pro, Descript, Canva, and YouTube
Ensure content accessibility and visual cohesion

Implement

Focus:

Facilitate courses, deliver professional learning, and support learners

Skills & Tools:

Lead ILT & VILT facilitation and self-directed learning programs
Implement eLearning courses, presentations, training manuals, facilitator guides, participant handouts, and job aids
Manage learner assessments, evaluations, and surveys
Deploy and manage LMS (Pearson, Canvas, Blackboard), Zoom, Google Slides, and PowerPoint

Evaluate

Focus:

Measure learning outcomes and improve instructional experiences

Skills & Tools:

Analyze learner performance, engagement data, and feedback to inform refinements
Conduct learning evaluation and performance measurement
Apply project management tools (Excel, Google Sheets, Trello, Google Drive, Microsoft 365) to monitor outcomes and timelines
