As the social media manager for Husky Network, I focus on growing our audience and keeping them engaged. I check our following daily and track social media insights to see which types of videos perform best. This data allows us to adapt and follow trends. I help promote our show by encouraging teachers to play it every Thursday, ensuring maximum reach within our school community. Additionally, all teachers and students get an email with the link to the show every Thursday morning.
I came across a trending TikTok similar to this reel and wanted to put our own spin on it. Even though the video had no text on screen and the audio was just gibberish, it still reached a broad audience and received strong engagement. This experience reinforced the value of following social media trends to connect with our audience and stay relevant—especially among teens, who make up the majority of our followers and viewers. Video filmed by Kieryn Drake and edited by Megan Janzen.
The Husky Network staff tracked down and printed old photos of some of North’s teachers, then asked them to sign the pictures to capture their reactions. Filming this segment was a blast, and based on the engagement it received—7.4K views and 482 likes on TikTok, plus 4.9K views and 314 likes on Instagram—we know our audience enjoyed it too. The response was so positive that we even created a second round, which saw similar success! This video was a group project in which I filmed, edited, and starred in.
