If you have 5 minutes for an advocacy item on your agenda, your council members could make a short call as part of a meeting. This activity could be repeated as a recurring item for any bill you may choose to advocate.
A small order of cards can last for years and help council members overcome any reticence toward advocacy.
Organized mailings from constituents can attract attention to your issue. Numbers matter in politics. Although boilerplate is easily spotted and diverted in the large D.C. legislator mail rooms, smaller in district and field office staff pay closer attention. A personalized handwritten note is more likely to be shared with policy aides.
