The saddest thing about The Mental Health Access Improvement Act is that it has been waiting to be enacted for 20 years! The suffering and loss caused by this access barrier is truly tragic. Getting the message out to news media typically works with a compelling story. Yet finding one can be a challenge, especially with so much stigma still surrounding mental illness.
Consider asking those beneficiaries and providers who experience this barrier whether they might consider "going public" with a story. One or two might be enough human interest material to make good copy/listening for the Medicare audience which grows nationally by 10,000 each day.
