Overview of Unit 6

In this unit I learned how databases organize important information such as dates, photographs and tools for efficiency . 

Unit 6 Terms

Field (As related to DBs) 

Definition- A database that is set to arrange data in a particular way so the computer program can use necessary parts from it. Every database has several fields, records, and files. (InetSoft) https://www.inetsoft.com/info/database-fields-and-types/ 

Record (As related to DBs) 

Definition- A set of related data items stored as a single, horizontal row with a database table. (Google AI) 

Query 

Definition- To ask questions of especially with a desire for authoritative information. Especially to resolve a doubt. (Merriam Webster) https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/query 

DBMS 

Definition- Is software that acts as an interface between users and data, allowing them to create, store, retrieve, update, and manage information efficiently. (Google AI) 

Data 

Definition- Information, especially facts or numbers, collefted to be examined and considered and used to help decision-making, or information in an electronic form that can be stored and used by a computer. https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/english/data#google_vignette (Cambridge Dictionary)  

Information & nbsp;

Knowledge

Wisdom 

Definition- Is the top of the DIKW (Data, Information, knowledge, wisdom) hierarchy and to get there, answer questions such as “why do something” and “what is best”. Wisdom is knowledge applied in action. (Google AI)

Example 1:  

-Data:500  

-Information: 500 miles 

-Knowledge: 500 miles is a long distance  

-Wisdom: That’s too far to walk. I’ll drive

Why this unit was important

The unit taught me how databases help us find efficient information, how it is used  for organizing, and digital software to improve accuracy.
