Moses, Elijah and Jesus fasted in the desert for 40 days
Ezekiel laid on his right side for 40 days to “bear the iniquity” of Judea’s sins
Goliath taunted Israel for 40 days before David defeated him
God prepared Noah, collected his family and the animals in the ark and shut them in. For 40 days and nights it rained, raising the ark every day higher and higher until the earth was flooded. Noah, his family and all the animals were all stuck together---no toilet paper, no restaurants to eat in, no school, no church---just an ark full of smelly animals and people. On the 40th day the rain stopped.
The 'quarantines' of the Bible were times of suffering, preparation, testing---much like the 'quarantine' we find ourselves in. But at the end of every quarantine in the Bible, there was a strengthening of FAITH, a deeper walk with God and a victory over the troubles. And don't forget the sign that Noah received as a reminder of God's presence through it all!
Hope you can feel God's presence during your quarantine---and look for the signs! We will dig deeper on Sunday!! MBC U Sunday!
