There's power in the pen (or the pencil, marker, colored pencil, crayon)! Go beyond a text or Snap Chat and write a letter/postcard to friends, family, church members, your pastor/church staff, those in prisons or rest homes, local hospitals, your mail carrier, sanitation workers, grocery store clerks, fire department, police/sheriff. It only takes a second to make someone feel less lonely in these isolated times!
There's power in the CHALK! Write positive CHALK messages wherever you can,!! Write a message to the UPS delivery worker, under your mailbox for the mail carrier, wherever you can safely go and give a message! Those on the frontlines need us just as much as we need them!
There's power in the human voice! You can call instead of text your friends, family members, church members! You can even call your local frontline workers and tell them in person how much you appreciate all that they are doing to keep us safe, fed and functioning! Text Ms. Alisha and she can give you a list of seniors/elders in our church who would love to hear your VOICE!
Make Videos!! You can make videos to encourage or entertain and share them with family, friends, church members or even the world! Thanks, Charles, for making this video for us and sharing your encouragement and enlightenment! :-) We miss you and hope you are safe and well! MBC Youth, youth parents, church members, please share any video of encouragement and I will post it on our website! Just text Alisha!
Be kind to your family members! Suffering, trials, and CHANGE can add stress to our lives! While staying home 24/7 is in one way a blessing (it is saving the world), it can also be a form of STRESS! That 'stress' is energy that God can use to whittle down our EGO!! We can practice wearing our emery boards and placing our egos on the altar---watch them sizzle , burn up and release that SWEET AROMA to the Lord! :-) (Respond in KIND when a family member aggravates, annoys or just plain drives you crazy!)
But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place.
2 Cor 2:14
Donate! Give food, clothing, supplies to local agencies! Buies Creek First Baptist has a food bank weekly. You and your family can drop off food items safely! You can donate clothes/items to our Clothes Closet for future family interventions. Food Pantry of Harnett County and SAFE of Harnett County are taking donations as well, and are providing safe ways to allow us to GIVE!
Pray! You can pray for everyone during this pandemic and beyond. Make a list in a journal or notebook and open it up during the day, pray over those on your list and 'connect.' There are too many scientific studies on the power of prayer---benefits for the one praying and the one prayed for. It's one thing we DO have control over during this time.
Write Your Ideas Here!
If you have any ideas of how we can GIVE and SERVE while 'staying at home,' please add them here!

And as they were eating, he took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to them, and said, “Take; this is my body.” And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, and they all drank of it. And he said to them, “This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many. "
Mark 14: 22-24
From Pastor Ed and the MBC Worship Team
Mary stood outside near the tomb, crying. As she cried, she bent down to look into the tomb. She saw two angels dressed in white, seated where the body of Jesus had been, one at the head and one at the foot. The angels asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?”
She replied, “They have taken away my Lord, and I don’t know where they’ve put him.” As soon as she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she didn’t know it was Jesus.
Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you crying? Who are you looking for?”
Thinking he was the gardener, she replied, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him and I will get him.”
Jesus said to her, “Mary.”
She turned and said to him in Aramaic, “Rabbouni” (which means Teacher).
Jesus said to her, “Don’t hold on to me, for I haven’t yet gone up to my Father. Go to my brothers and sisters and tell them, ‘I’m going up to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”
Mary Magdalene left and announced to the disciples, “I’ve seen the Lord.” Then she told them what he said. John 20:11-18
Not everyone is good with names. Heck, I’m always messing up the names of my kids and generally, we laugh about it. I also know that each time someone calls them by the wrong name, uses an incorrect pronoun, or otherwise ignores the unique nature of their personhood, a piece of the spirit is pained.
Jesus reminds us of the importance of being called by name.
With one word, “Mary,” Jesus reminds us of the power of seeing someone for who they are. In that moment, Mary recognized him and was moved and compelled to tell the story.
There is power in calling someone by name. It’s a public acknowledgment of their unique personhood.
And there is joy in truly knowing the name of the Christ, for in knowing Christ, we can joyfully tell others this story of hope.
Easter Sunday is filled with grand gatherings, glorious pageants, and joyous worship. But in the midst of the events of the day, take the time to both call someone by name AND rejoice when someone does the same to you. In these gestures, Easter hope is known. Bruce Reyes-Chow
God, on this Easter Day, make your new life known in the minutia and the magnificent. Give me a heart that sees the uniqueness of others and the humility to let others see the humanity in me. In the whispers and shouts of our names, let us all know hope, joy, and new life this day. Amen.
Go forth into the world with justice and compassion in your heart.
Give voice to the silent.
Give strength to the weak.
Hear one another.
See one another.
Care for one another.
And love one another.
It’s all that easy.
And it’s all that hard.
