!!! Minulým časem průběhovým označujeme činnosti, které probíhaly v minulosti.
Klademe tak důraz na trvání těchto činností
(I was learning all day. – Celý den jsem se učil.).
TVAR: minulý tvar slovesa TO BE + - ING
= WAS/ WERE + ,. ING
POUŽITÍ:
- děj probíhal v minulosti v blíže určenou dobu :
She was playing tennis at 4 pm yesterday.
She was playing tennis at 4 pm yesterday.

- dva (nebo více) děje probíhaly v minulosti současně:
The sun was shining and the birds were singing.
The sun was shining and the birds were singing.
I was reading a book and my friend was watching TV.
I was reading a book and my friend was watching TV.
- kombinace minulého průběhového a minulého prostého času/ probíhající děj byl narušen jiným dějem:
Jack was reading a book when the phone rang.
Jack was reading a book when the phone rang.
Sue was walking around the road when she met Jim.
Sue was walking around the road when she met Jim.
