My name is Dr. (Christina) Moire Matheson.
I'm a long-time Adjunct Assistant Professor here at BMCC.
I received my doctorate in English Literature in 2015 from St. John's University. Before that, I attended Queens College for both my Master's in English and my Bachelor's in History and Education. I also studied Irish Language and Culture at Lehman College.
I love teaching developmental writing and composition and literature.
I'm passionate about online learning and instructional design. I hope you find my courses easy to navigate, informative, and entertaining.
I adore literature, especially colonial and postcolonial texts and historical fiction.
In my "spare time" I enjoy spending time with my seven children ages 22-2 and learning languages, particularly endangered languages. The greeting above is in my native language, Gàidhlig (Scottish Gaelic) a minority language spoken in Scotland. I also speak Gaeilge (Irish Gaelic) and Spanish and am learning Hawaiian.
I respond to emails within 24 hours on weekdays and within 48 hours on weekends.
Always email me at my school address: cmatheson@bmcc.cuny.edu
Throughout the semester, I will host "Office Hours" via Zoom as well as regularly scheduled synchronous class sessions.
If you would like to "meet" one-on-one online, I am happy to schedule a private Zoom Session.
For all Zoom sessions use my personal meeting room:

As I am an online professor, I do not have an on-campus office. However, I can arrange a private location for face-to-face meetings with advance notice and am happy to do so for those who need in-person assistance.
