• The function of the Introduction is to serve as a 'map' of the essay, outlining to your reader the main argument and points which you develop in your essay. For many students, the introduction is their first step, but in this unit, we'll examine why that might not be the best approach and look at techniques to create strong introductions.

• In this presentation, we discuss the importance of introductions and examine several simple ways to craft appropriate introductions. If you've ever struggled with writing a strong introduction, lament no more these foolproof suggestions will ease your writing anxiety.
