Scouts can join the program at any grade!
Each Cub Scout is assigned to a small, grade level group called a "Den". Each Den completes completes specific Adventures at twice monthly meetings and at home. Earning six required Adventures and two elective Adventures means the Scout ranks to the next level.
Family Activities and Adventure Awaits
Do your Best and Have Fun Doing It
Cub Scouting is more than just an activity. It's adventure, learning, and discovery. Cub Scouts are at that magical age where everything is new and possible and, most important, fun! They build things. Play with purpose. Make friends and work together. The life lessons learned here not only transform today’s Cub Scouts into tomorrow’s Scouts BSA members but also help form a foundation to embrace opportunity and overcome life's obstacles.
Cub Scouting is fun for the whole family. That's right! Cub Scouts isn't just for the kids. There's something in it for you too! We know families are busy; often feeling crunched for quality time. Cub Scouts provides opportunities for your family to do fun things together while joining other families doing the same.
It’s fun, hands-on learning and achievement that puts kids in the middle of the action and prepares them for today – and for life.
Kindergarteners are Lions. Fiercely independent, this age wants to do it all by themselves. These Cub Adventures teach the skills needed to be more independent while staying safe in a large world.
1st Graders are Tigers. Full of boundless energy and curiosity, this age is learning about how they fit into the world. These Cub Adventures focus on expanding their knowledge of self and what they can do.
2nd Graders are Wolves. Steadier and more confident, this age is ready for exploring every where and every thing. These Cub Adventures dive deeply into each topic, and may require some work at home.
3rd Graders are Bears. Naturally curious, this age is ready for more complex activities that take longer. These Cub Adventures teach basic skills that require a bit more focus and concentration.
4th Graders are Webelos. Able to work independently, this age now develops teamwork skills. These Adventures are harder and more complex than ever.
5th Graders are Arrows of Light (AOL). This age is preparing to make the transition to the BSA Troop, where leadership is done by the Scouts. These Adventures have more requirements to prepare AOLs to earn the Merit Badges of the Troop. This patch is the only patch from Cub Scouts that can be worn on the BSA Scout Uniform.
BSA requires training and policies to keep your Scout safe! We use Safe Scouting best practices including bi-annual Youth Protection Training, "two-deep leadership" and keeping parents or guardians closely involved with their Scout's activities. Parents and guardians are welcome and encouraged to participate with their Scouts at all activities.
