Marina López Solà
Principal Investigator
Dr. Marina López Solà is the principal investigator of the Pain and Emotion Neuroscience Lab. She focuses on understanding the brain mechanisms, psychological and sensory processes that underlie pain and affective suffering in chronic pain and depressed individuals. She received a PhD in Neuroscience and Medicine from the University of Barcelona and continued her research training in advanced neuroimaging and computational methods at the University of Colorado Boulder. She started her independent laboratory at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in 2017, where she developed collaborations with other chronic pain researchers and received her first R01 grant. She later returned to Barcelona, where she received the prestigious Ramon y Cajal award and secured her first competitive RETOS project. Dr. López-Solà envisions developing a strong translational pain and affective neuroscience research line in Europe and the US, and she is an Editor and Board Member for various organizations.
