Mi nombre es Marco Small. Nací, crecí, fuí criado y educado en la Ciudad de Panamá en Panamá. Despues de graduarme de la secundaria, fui a estudiar a Canadá por unos años, y después regresé a Panamá.
Siempre me ha gustado aprender nuevos idiomas. Es por eso que estoy estudiando en la Universidad Latina de Panamá, para obtener una Licenciatura en Inglés con Énfasis en Traducción, y después certificarme como un traductor profesional.
Actualmente, puedo hablar en español e inglés fluidamente, pero también tengo un nivel experto en francés e italiano, con un poco de alemán básico. También soy autodidacta en japonés, lo que es una manera elegante de decir que estoy interesado en aprenderlo, pero no lo hablo del todo.
My name is Marco Small. I was born, grown, raised, and educated in Panama City, Panama. After graduating from high school, I went to university in Canada for a few years, then came back to Panama.
I have always liked to learn new languages, which is why I am currently studying at the Universidad Latina de Panamá to obtain an undergraduate degree in English with Emphasis on Translation, and then become certified as an professional translator.
Currently, I am fluent in Spanish and English, but I can also communicate at an expert level in French and Italian, with some basic German. I am also self-taught in Japanese, which is just a fancy way of saying I am interested in learning it, but can't properly communicate in it.

I've created this website as a repository to display different class projects at the Universidad Latina de Panamá. The projects are divided by class. You can go into more details by clicking on the corresponding class name.

The main objective of this class is practice translating consecutively by taking videos in different topics, and interpreting them on the go. For this class, the main focus is Spanish and English.
The purpose of this class is to learn to use Computer Assisted Translation (CAT) tools, as well as Machine Translation (MT) tools, by taking different texts, using different tools, and making comparisons, as well as our own human translation.
The purpose of this class is to learn Simultaneous Translation (sometimes also known as "conference interpreting"), which is when the interpreter renders the information in real time as it is being spoken. It is rather difficult, because it requires the translator to multitask by simultaneously listening in one language and translating it into another.
The purpose of this class is to learn Translation Criticism, which implies developing critical thinking skills regarding translation and identifying the procedures and techniques used in a translation.
