Our mission strategy for MARC III 24.1 focuses on getting the most points in the shortest amount of time. We group missions based on how close they are to each other and how hard they are to complete. We also try to clear crowded areas of the map early to make it easier for the robot to move around later. For each mission, we think about how many steps it takes and how tricky it is to pull off before deciding the best order. One of our favorite missions is “Artificial Habitat” because it’s amazing when it works, even though it can be challenging. This strategy helps us make the most of our 2:30 match time!
We are always looking for ways to make MARC III 24.1 even better. Right now, we use 8 programs to attempt 12 missions and can score a maximum of 405 points, with an average of 300 points during runs. We can solve all the missions using multiple arms, but we plan to combine some attachments to save time. Another goal is to increase the stability of the drive base for more consistent performance. Lastly, we want to explore using the color sensor by testing its RGB parameters to see if it can help with additional missions. These improvements will make our robot faster, smarter, and more efficient in the future!
