As you all may know, or not. During this challenge I will be taking on a 30 day workout challenge as well as incorporating more healthy foods into my diet. It seems like a simple goal, but I know there are lots of challenges I will have to overcome and be able to learn to fix. As well as the basics I will need to learn, such as dieting and working out. Below I will be explaining each source I will be using to increase my knowledge on working out as well as dieting.
My 30-day challenge consists of working out and although working out will be the main component I need to start getting “fit”. I also think I need to add another challenge as well. Which will be to eat better and more. I have a hard time eating lots of food at once sometimes and I found an article that will help me eat better to gain more muscle and have an overall better diet. An article from “Fitness Volt” is what I will be using to guide me as it has numerous facts on Bulking and Cutting. Bulking is a phase where I eat more than what I put out hence the name allows me to gain more muscle by eating more if I work out. Cutting is a phase where my body gets rid of excess fat allowing for more muscle definition.
To better help my body during this process, I will need to know what to eat. An article by AARP will be used to guide me on certain foods to help. This will help with my challenge so I can get more used to eating different foods at certain times and different amounts. I’m very used to eating lots of snacks and fried foods so I think this will help me get on the right track. The article talks about how different vegetables will help me, even the color of the vegetable which I had no clue mattered. How my calories matter and what the effects of more protein will do my body in the long run.
Healthline articles say that working out can be bad for your body. Which has made me skeptical about starting this trial. I’ve noticed that working out with heavier weights when you aren’t to accustomed to a workout can hurt you instead of help. In the article the author talks about how you can over train yourself, not allowing time between each workout for your muscles to rest which I have already experienced due to me working out two muscle groups consecutively and injuring myself slightly. This goes along with my 30-day challenge because I am learning how to push myself in a safe manner and not over do things.
Livestrong Articles talk about how a suddenly healthy diet may affect you in negative ways. Most people wouldn’t have to deal with these side effects, but the affects seen are intestinal gas, bloating, and cramping. Which I already struggle from so this might be a challenge for me to overcome. This is caused by high intakes of fiber which can help me in the long run but when first starting out on a new healthy diet it can make things hard, especially for someone like me. But according to the article introducing these slowly into my diet should make it less likely that I contract these negative symptoms.
The last source I used is a TED talk by Wendy Suzuki who talks about how working out helps more than just her physical. It changes your mental. By changing the anatomy, physiology and fuction she says. Working out produces new brain cells that increase my brains volume and increase my long term memory. Which I had know knowledge about until I listened to this TED talk which has encouraged me to work out even more. She says the brain is a muscle that we need to work out since the brain since it gets rid of diseases that are likely to happen as we get older.
According to the articles and TED talk I’ve listed above I will be forced to challenge myself with new habits and conditions with my body mentally and physically. So with this challenge I will be getting a more healthy body physically, and mentally. My brain will be getting stronger and so will I. As well as preserving my insides such as my brain and different parts of my body due to the diet I will be incorporating.
