Pre challenge I had thought the physical part would be the hardest. I thought that the weights and other physical challenges would be what pushed me to the limit, but it was far from that. The most difficult part of this whole challenge was honestly getting up to do it or being motivated enough to do it. I never skipped a day but each time before I would go I would always have a feeling or thought trying to persuade me thinking "oh I can just make up the lost workout another day". Which never stopped me because I had my own personal motivations that kept me going.
The most rewarding part of this was the mental and physical progress. You might wonder how it would have changed me mentally but, It taught me discipline, more of which I had going into this. I figured out that I wouldn't immediately start seeing changes and feeling changes. It also helped with my concentration. Going to the gym in the middle of the day it can be pretty busy. Learning to cut off all distractions and focus on myself while at the gym to get the best performance during my workout. The physical aspect is quite confusing to explain. I've definitely noticed an increase in my physical strength but physique-wise not much has changed yet that I notice.
I do suggest that people follow in my footsteps and workout. Maybe not to build a huge muscly body, but to keep their body in good shape. Working out can help relieve a lot of physical and mental stress one might have. If not to work out, find a healthy lifestyle that benefits you, something that will make you feel good. Working out is one of the many ways people use to better themselves. I’m sure you can find something you will love that will change you for the better.
I am very happy upon completing this challenge. Being able to meet a couple of people while doing so has made me feel very accomplished. This also has become a hobby for me it feels like, something I know I'll do long term and constantly get better at it.
Based off my research I had a couple of expectations. One being to gain strength which I did tremendously from when I started. A second that I had not expected was to be more hungry and tired after my workouts. I knew I would get more fatigued and eat more but it really surpassed what I thought would happen to my body.
During the challenge I never felt the need to change anything. Although I do wish I started being more intense early on. When starting I stayed comfortably around lighter weights knowing I could go up more but for some reason I didn’t. I found out that gradually increasing your work weight would help for better progress, so I am quite upset that I wasn’t working out to my max potential even though I was putting in the effort.
The biggest skill that I learned in this that I can apply to real life is patience. Going to the gym there are going to be a lot of things you’ll need to be patient with. As simple as waiting for a machine to be done being used with as far as Physical results from yourself. You won’t always see results just by going to the gym. It takes time and I notice that. The only thing I can do Is to keep working and pushing myself to see my patience.
The only thing I had wish I thought about would be food that would keep me less exhausted. Foods that gave me more energy pre and post workout. Especially since I didn’t eat heavily before, going in the morning can be a struggle working out on a low stomach making me perform worse than If I were to work out on a fuller stomach with more energy.
Overall, I believe that going to the gym everyday has made me become a more consistent time observant person. I've created a schedule which I never really do so its a change of pace for me. Still, it helped me in showing me what I needed to do daily allowing for the completion of my 30-day challenge.
