This week during class we learned about the Burkean parlor. Which is when an outsider goes to a bar or some type of outing. It tells us that there is a conversation going and that an outsider is listening into it and once they hear enough of the conversation, they join in. It just becomes an endless loop on the topic and that is the result of many people doing and finding research on a topic and having their own way to articulate it to others creating different views and opinions.
When it comes to being a "researched" author I think that you need to be knowledgeable on the people you talk to and know how to approach not just the conversation, but your audience as well. You might have to talk a certain way to your audience to get them hooked. To make them interested in what you're talking about you must fit their needs and what is involved in their day to day life. For example, you might talk to body builders or people who work out on a topic such as dieting, or weightlifting to ensure they stay healthy and fit. By being able to do this you, the author must be a credible source. Someone who has built up a sense of credibility will make them much easier to listen to and rely on them as a source of information. There is no number of sources you need to use for your research. Although it does help with your research when people see multiple sources giving out a good amount of information on a topic.
For our 30 day challenge I have a lot of different ideas. My main one would be for me to do some type of physical activity for more than a hour a day. Whether that be going to the gym or just doing a little workout in my room. The second would be for me to talk to someone new every day. Evem though we are all in the same place at a certain time everyone has a different story and its so interesting to me to see what someone might be interested in or where they come from. Talking to someone new could let me know something I had never heard of before. The third would be Make a new playlist of music each day adding a new song I've never listened to, to expand my taste in music. Music is beautiful to me and It's always nice to see the different twists artists have on their craft. The fourth would be Writing a reflection of my day, seeing what I do often and maybe changing it.
