Socially Engaged Art History Roundtable
Co-chairs
Cindy Persinger, Associate Professor, California University of Pennsylvania
Azar Rejaie, Associate Professor, University of Houston – Downtown
This interactive roundtable discussion will focus on socially engaged art history as an inclusive and collaborative process that engenders productive dialogue within and across diverse social groups regarding issues of concern and, in particular, the ways in which it can be incorporated into higher education. Panelists will discuss how to design projects, overcome challenges, reap benefits, assess outcomes, and negotiate institutional and societal structures. Come prepared to share ideas and ask questions as we consider how to work collaboratively with colleagues across the arts and other disciplines to revise curriculum through socially engaged and community projects that demonstrate the value of art history and the humanities more broadly.
