An ongoing event that required choosing an activity of daily living to "live in a day in the life" of someone with a transradial amputation. The activity was practiced almost everyday throughout the semester with a reflection written to explain the experience of the activity.
The activity of daily living I replicated as someone with a transradial amputation was taking off earrings. I found this task to be very difficult when performing with only one hand. Doing research after attempting to take off the earrings one handed for about 2 weeks, I found a device that helped remove the earrings easily.
This inventive tool that I found is a simple, straight-forward design. The back of the earring is inserted into the prongs of the tool. Once the tool is squeezed, the back of the earring becomes detached from the rest of the earring.
