The competent teacher understands and uses appropriate formative and summative assessments for determining student needs, monitoring student progress, measuring student growth, and evaluating student outcomes. The teacher makes decisions driven by data about curricular and instructional effectiveness and adjusts practices to meet the needs of each student.
This is a 10-question quiz on Chapter 2 of Anita Woolfolk’s Educational Psychology textbook, which was the required reading for EDUC 215: Educational Psychology. The questions in this quiz were at the highest levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy. This quiz consisted of 8 multiple choice questions for 5 points each, and 2 essay questions that were 15 points each, for a total of 70 points overall. I then had 10 students take this test, and used their results to write a test analysis.
Based on these reasons, through this project I met standard 7E) understands how to select, construct, and use assessment strategies and instruments for diagnosis and evaluation of learning and instruction. Through my test analysis, I was also able to meet Standard 7M) maintains useful and accurate records of student work and performance.” To do this, I carefully recorded each student’s percentage score, z score, and t score in a readable chart. To maintain accuracy, I checked over all of my calculations and ensured they were right. Finally, I saved these records so I have access to past student’s performance and work.
When making this quiz, I learned how to use Google Forms. I also learned that making tests requires attention to detail in arranging questions, determining and inputting default point values into the form, and grading responses through Google Forms. Additionally, I effectively utilized Google Forms' ability to track answers and organize data, information that I used in my test analysis.
This is a rubric I made for students to be able to evaluate themselves on their in class behavior and artwork. I would use this rubric with students grades 3rd-5th.
This rubric connects to standard 7L) involves students in self-assessment activities to help them become aware of their strengths and needs and encourages them to establish goals for learning; because it allows the students the chance to reflect on where they are at, and what they can do to improve.
When making this rubric, I learned how to write evaluation standards in wording that students can understand.
