The Bush School Ambassador's Council jacket is a honor and privilege to wear. As a member of the Council I work and attend events on behalf of and a representative of the Bush School. It is a position of service that I am honored to have. This position has honed my lifelong skills in speaking with people of all backgrounds, thinking on my feet, and managing my time.
As an Ambassador I have worked events from Easter egg hunts to Madeleine Albright from policy conferences to the Bush Family and Vice Presidents Mike Pence, Dick Cheney, and Dan Quayle. This role exposes you to a variety of people and experiences. I was raised to speak to every person the same - the small child hunting easter eggs to the current Vice President of the United States Mike Pence. This role has allowed me the opportunity to practice that skill and fundamental belief that all people deserve equal respect.
This role has also required me to think on my feet. In November of 2018 when Madeleine Albright was in town I ran check-in for her event - attended by over 900 people. Check-in for this event was hectic and ran into a myriad of issues outside of my control. Many of those issues required me to think on my feet and use diplomacy when people who thought they had tickets did not. It also has required me to think on my feet while attending donor luncheons - where a myriad of questions may be asked about my life or experience.
Being in this role has also taught me to manage my time better. I must manage my time in order to finish my school work and have time to work events. I also must be able to recognize the events, that maybe I would love to attend, I simply can not responsibly work. Being a part of the Ambassador's Council has helped me learn when to say 'no' to things.
While at the Bush School being an Ambassador has been one of my greatest honors and has provided me many memorable opportunities. I am thankful for the ways it has helped me grow in speaking to all people, thinking on my feet, and managing my time. All of these lifelong skills will help me in my future career and in my general life as well.
