The presentation below was an independent project that required me to pick a musical era of my choice that I had researched and found interesting during the course. I first had to make a Musical Period Outline on the era, then incorporating the MPO and even more research and applied knowledge into a presentation. After the presentation itself, I created a quiz, giving it to the class to see what they had learned from the educational journey I had taken them on.
I chose the Classical Era of music for many reasons. I had already loved Classical Era music and its composers, so I knew from the start I wanted to know more. Then, I found that I loved everything that went into making the music and the musical terminology, and thus, choosing this for my big presentation became even easier. I loved the history of this era and how the eras of music continued to transition from one to the next. I enjoyed the brilliant pieces of music and the techniques that flowed throughout the airy and simplistic notes and instrumentation.
This project was very entertaining and interesting, for I have always loved music and getting to dig into its layers and elements. I loved getting to present this project to the class, sharing the knowledge I had spent weeks getting together. Music is more complex and advanced than many realize and is very important as it helps to spread knowledge and emotional expression. I am very proud of my presentation techniques and how I am able to apply my own understanding and reflection; I hope to continue to grow as a musical scholar.
