Technology is always advancing, just look at what phones looked like just 10 years ago. In this unit I will talk about the E3X coating tobot and why I think it'll be the next big thing, at least for the utility industry.

My Emerging Tech: E3X Coating Robot
I chose the E3X coating robot, not because robots are cool.(they are) But because it's something we desperatitly need in a constant increasing demand of energy. Everyday we see roads that need widen, routes needing to be fixed to help manage the increase in cars. But that's something we see, the E3X robot solves an issue we face, but we cant visually see. Powerlines are just something connected to our houses that we don't think twice about. It brings power to our houses and that it, at least from the consumer stand point.

What I learned
I went into this project not knowing anything about powerlines. Cities are constantly growing and we are at a turning point where our supply can barely keep up with our demand of energy consumptions. Tearing down old lines and building new ones to meet the constant increasing demand is costly on tax payers and time consumeing. The E3X coating robot give an alternitive, it's able to be installed onto existing lines, giving them a new life by applying a thin ceramic coat. This coat decreases the temperature of the powerline, which in turn decreases sagging due to heat and increases AMP capacity, making it a cost effective solution to meet consumer demands. I love learning about niche things that can affect our everyday life, that we often overlook and I hope to someday see this little robot in action.
