For this project, we had to use the CPX and combine it with another feature like lighting up an LED. I chose to create a glowing flower garden and use different color LED bulbs to make the flowers glow. We had to code the CPX to make sure the correct functions occurred when I wanted them to happen.
My supplies
6 Alligator clips
1 CPX
Tape
1 USD-USB:C code
Crayons
Printer Paper
3 different colored LED lights
Computer
I had a goal to work on the code first because I thought that was going to be the hardest part. So I opened up two different documents: the first was the coding website and the second was my google doc that has my practice coding from last class. This helped me out a lot because I went to the section that had alligator clips and I copied that code into the website. I knew how to connect one set of alligator clips but I was challenged because I wanted three sets. However I looked at my notes and I figured out which ones to connect. Based on my code, I knew how to get them to blink the colors but I wanted to try and get them to stay the color and not blink. This was a hard moment for me since I had no notes on this but I played around and as you see in my code below, I realized I had to take out the last part of the code in each segment to make sure it didn't blink.
Here I am successfully getting the lights to stay on after getting my coding correct.
The next step after knowing my code would work was to draw a rough draft of how I wanted my flower garden to look. I used pencil to first sketch and then I added in crayons. I had to make sure things were the right height so that the light would shine in the correct space.
My final product is below and you can see on the front how I colored in the petals around the light and then how I taped all the wires to the back of the paper. I absolutely loved how the final product came out especially because this was something completely new to me
I thought I would add in the sun and clouds but once I was finished I decided against that idea. You can see that I was outlined my ideas in pencil and then once I liked that I went in drew the grass, followed by the stems for the flowers.
