So the idea we orginially came up with was a hairtie that could be traced. We wanted a hairtie that we would never lose again. We called our project Slofi and at first we would say Slofi twice and then teh hairtie would make a sound back so you could find it. However we needed to pivot because a regualr sized hairtie could not hold a CPX.
We deiced to make a alrge scrunchie and instead of beeping when you lose it, we had it make a sound when it is falling so you will know when it falls out of your hair. The input it the CPX falling and teh output when it hits ground is making a beeping type sound. Below you will see a rough mock up of what our scrunchie will look like.
When it was time to find our favric we were looking for something srtetchy and wide. W elaos needed elastic to string inside teh fabric to make it a scrunchie. We found this black and white fabric that actually already has elastic inside of it. We deuced to use this material and then had to cut it to shape. Below you can see how sewing the sides together to make the outline of the scrunchie.
After we had sew the outline of the scrunchie we needed a way to seal it off. We were originally going to sew it off but then we would have no way to get back into it so we decided to glue Velcro so that way it is closed but when we need to adjust the CPX we can get in easily.
Below is the final video of the scrunchie working
Reflection #1:
I never knew of the term cognitive flexibility because I thought it just was similar to "go with the flow" but it is a really unique term to academics. We have to be able to change ideas at the drop of at hat and find a ay to integrate these new ideas.
The fishbowl activity was not new to me but as always was an interesting experience. I think it is a bit tough because you do not know what your partners will say and your waiting to see if they would talk and that was hard for me because not everyone in my group verbally contributed so it was a bit more stressful to come up with ideas. The role as an observed was easier for sure because I was like "yeah I would/would not do that" but when your on the spot it is a bit harder.
Based on the feedback I got I realzied some people did not give the "negative" or crtiwue feedback wheile I did for everyone. Even when I felt like I did not have feedback to give I still tried to come up with something.
Reflection #2:
My decision-making is impacted by not having multiple pespectives either one of two ways. Either I will beleive in myself and trust my abilties. This woyld be nice because I could go with the ideas I want and pivot when I want to instead of having to get the agreement from my partners. However, if it is in an area where I have low self-efficacy then I may start to second guess myself.
For me I am hoping to become a coach so I will need to be able to adjust based on my players coaching style. If a players is not understanding a drill I will need to be flexible and change directions.
Yes we got stuck on the sewing part and I felt like we could have asked for help a bit earlier and admitted we needed help. I think people in my group were hesitate to change directions and ask for help.
