I knew for my final project that I wanted something I would use myself and I wanted something that even without the CPX, I could still use in my home. I thought of different types of furnitue and pitchure frames but settled on some type of pillow. After figuring out I wnated a pillow I had to deicde what the input and output would be. I decied to use pressure as my input because it woudl make snes ethat someone would lay their head on teh pillow or hug a pillow for comfort. The output I decied I wanted sometype of sound or msuic to be played. When I think of comfort I think of mediatation music. So my final project would be a comfort pilow that when pressure is reiceved, plays meidattion music to help comfort that person.
Materials
CPX
Alligator clips
Conductive tape
Conductive wire
Regular tape
Velostat
Stuffing
Fleece fabric
As you can see this is where I tested out the velostat. The velo stat is like a pressure sensor so it can sense when you press down on it. I used here conductive tape to make the connections and to start I use alligator clips. It should be noted that in my final project I do not use alligator clips, I use a combination of conductive thread, wires, and tape.
The next step I did was get my code ready to use. I first use makercode for teh basics to make sure the velo stat worked but then to get the msuic I wanted to I had to switch to Arduino. This was one of my failures and hard parts. Getting the corretc msuic uploaded to MP3 and then getting the code correct took a lot of trial and error. At one point my code got so messed up, I had to just start over but that ended up working so sometimes it is good to start over.
Here are some photos of building the pillow from no-sew fleece material. It is really soft so it makes a great comfort pillow. I followed a video online to make the cuts and tie the correct strings
I used some of my extra nterual to make a base for my CPX and accesseries to go which can be seen below. I started with alligator clips and than switched to tape and threat by the final project.
