Prof Lynn Hendricks
Research Hub Lead
Prof Lynn Hendricks is an Associate Professor at Stellenbosch University (SU) and KU Leuven with a joint PhD in Social Science and Public Health. She specialises in social medicine, research equity, methods innovation, stakeholder engagement, and knowledge translation. Prof Hendricks leads SU's Social and Environmental Determinants of Health group and the COCREATE Research Equity Hub. Prof Hendricks is a fellow of Gilead Public Health, Microsoft Society & AI, and PEX Public Engagement. Her creative, community-focused research includes public art exhibitions and documentaries. She has received awards from Springer Nature, Cochrane, PsySSA, and the South African Department of Science, Technology and Innovation for her contributions to inclusive health research.
Mandisa Mashaba

Mandisa Mireldah Mashaba is a PhD candidate in Public Health and a researcher at the Co-CREATE Health Hub within the Division of Public Health and Health Systems at Stellenbosch University. Her research interests include young people’s mental health, male suicide, arts-based methods, and digital mental health interventions.
Nikki Thomas
Researcher
Nikki Thomas works as a researcher in the CoCREATE Health Hub in the Division of Health Systems and Public Health and has a background in Research Psychology. Her research interests include adolescent wellbeing, health psychology, substance use and behavioural addictions, and psychometric testing and assessment.
Latiefah Jacobs
Community Liaison Advocate
Latiefa Jacobs is a Community Liaison Advocate within the Co-CREATE Health Hub at Stellenbosch University, where she works at the intersection of community engagement, participatory research and health equity. Her research interests include women’s health, gender-based violence, trauma, healing, care, community knowledge and the use of creative and narrative approaches to co-create research with communities.
Tamia Morris
Youth Intern
Tamia Morris is a youth intern at the Co-CREATE Health Hub within Stellenbosch University’s Division of Public Health and Health Systems. She is currently supporting the Hub with data collection for the HAPPY project.
James Moletsane
Masters Research Psychology Intern
James Moletsane is an Intern Psychologist at the CO-CREATE Research Equity for Health Hub, with research interests spanning health psychology, health equity, and advocacy for marginalised communities. His work focuses on understanding and addressing barriers to health and wellbeing, with a particular interest in promoting equitable access to health resources and services. Through his work, James is committed to contributing to research that is collaborative, community-informed, and focused on translating evidence into meaningful improvements in health and wellbeing.
Dr Saskia Hanft-Robert
Postdoctoral Fellow
Dr Saskia Hanft-Robert is a psychologist, psychodynamic psychotherapist in training and postdoctoral research fellow at Stellenbosch University. Her research focuses on global mental health, language barriers, migration, diversity and equity in health care. Within the COCREATE Research Equity Hub, she explores how young men in low resource communities understand mental health, seek support and experience barriers to care. She also investigates nature based social prescribing as an accessible and culturally relevant approach to improving mental wellbeing.
