The Who, What, When, Where, and How of Playing Tennis at Leisure World.
Our Rating process helps our existing members and new players understand where they are at skill level based on the foundation of USTA Ratings Procedures and has been designed for continuous improvement for our club.
Tennis Volleyball – It’s a fun, easy game for all skill levels to play and socialize. Racquets are available. Sign up in CR preferred, but not necessary.
Tennis Academy – Academy is designed to assist beginning and up to level 3.0 players with skill development and playing experience (Wednesdays 1-3 pm). Free group instruction provided by 4.0+ players from LW.
Potluck/Drop-in – Drop-in tennis for all levels to come out and play together, meet other players, and have fun. Check calendar in CR for days and times. Signup in CR preferred, but not necessary.
Group Round Robin (GRR) – Play weekly games with others at your level. No need to know anybody, individuals are assigned partners and change partners every 1⁄2 hour. Check event calendar to see when to sign up. You can get an informal rating during Academy to know which round robin level best fits you. Mentors and Academy coaches can assist players with this process.
Senior 75+ – Members 75 years and up are given a chance to play matches with players from other resorts.
Invitationals – Play with a LW partner against other club teams. This is an opportunity to play against outside groups in a less competitive, relaxed environment.
East Valley Seniors Tennis League (EVSTL) – Weekly matches are organized for players against clubs outside of LW. Each level is assigned a weekly practice session. You will require a formal rating from the Rating Committee. Your mentor can assist with this process.
Tournaments – Tournaments are held for those wanting a more competitive challenge where winners are determined at each playing level. LWTC hosts a Club Championship (February) and the Veterans Classic open tournament (November). Other clubs in the East Valley also offer competitive tournaments.
