First song:
Four Leaf Clover
The song Four Leaf Clover was written by myself and Peter within the first week of the project. I came up with the chords and melody and rhythm, whereas Peter added to it to it by adding the lyrics and some lead lines. The bass we've wrote really carried the structure and helps transitions the song smoothly into the sections.
Whats shown in this screenshot is the instrumentation of our first track, we used Logic Pro X for the recording process as well as the vocals. The vocals aren't included in this image as its an older copy, but they have been fully done now. Guitars are the most used instrument in this track as we have layered the majority of them to add more texture to the sounds they create. For example in the bridge, we have double tracked the guitars to get that louder and richer sound whilst panning left and right.
In this image you can see a very rough layout of how the song was mixed at the start, with barely any changes to it.
This image is Peter Bond hyping himself up for the vocal recording of our first song. It took about 50 minutes to get all the takes that we wanted but by the end of it, we were both happy to have it complete as it meant we can move onto the production of our next song.

Song 2:
2006
Peter Bond created this song trying to create a nostalgic feeling and atmosphere without the lyrics telling a major story to generate that feeling. The song is meant to symbolize the feeling of wishing you were more grown up when you were younger but then also looking back now, reminiscing about being younger and wanting it back.
This is the start of the recording process for our second song, it is currently unnamed but as the song generates and structure starts showing, the title of the track will be taken from the lyrics. The feeling we want to create with this song is a more melancholic nostaglia thats slightly coming of age. We are going to use effects to manipulate the sound adding texture and deep layers.
These lyrics were an idea that Peter Bond had wrote and was a maybe for our song that were making but we have scrapped them and decided on something different instead.
In a session today me and Peter spent studio slot mixing and mastering one of our songs in the EP, we really focused onto making the product sound like something professional and not made by two college kids. We were using Sennheiser headphones, they are professional headphones to make sure we achieve the quality we want.
This photo was taken in the same reording session, we had to re-record a section of our song to a different tempo to add more diversity and texture to the song. The reason we recorded a section again was because after listening back to it, we realised that the song needed a little bit more to it in terms of dynamics, texture to make it stand out a bit more.
This is also from the same session, these pictures were taken to help remember how the mixing desk was set-up for future reference, meaning we can be more efficent and start our work faster.
This is the mp3 for 2006.

Song 3:
Bailey
This song for me is the interpretation of a very painful memory of my childhood dog passing away. Bailey is a song straight from the heart where we used the instrumentation not the lyrics to make it full of life and feeling, we've gone for a liminal approach, creating an atmosphere that the listener can decide how it makes them feel as complicated as that sounds.
For the song Bailey we recorded the bass using an amp and a microphone rather than plugging the bass into an audio interface. The reason we did this was because we've found that for us, recording using live sound rather than an audio box produces higher quality and we think its more effiecient. This impacts our recording time becasue we find it easier to set up rather than meaning we have more time to record and actually create our product.
This is the bass we used for the song, during the recording I didn't own my bass yet so we had to borrow one from college. I'll attach an image of my bass. Mine is the blue jazz bass on the left, thats what we used when re recording the bassline after changing our minds on the original one.
This was taken when recording the vocals for the song Bailey we used a Condenser microphone and Peter's beanie as a pop filter because all the others were in use at the time of the recording.

Progression Interview
This is my progression interview with my tutor talking about how I think my project is going and talking about how the progression between my plan and what i'm actually doing. The reason I've done this is because it helps to evaluate where I am in terms of what I need to acheive and what I have already accomplished.
This is my cover of the bassline from the song Longview by Greenday, in this clip I play the riff showing what it sounds like.
In this video you can see playing the riff slower and imitating the sound of the bass using my voice. Practically breaking down the riff helps me to undertstand the musical theory, how its applied by my favourite bass players and helps give me ideas for my own style of playing.
