This Privacy Policy describes how Split Bill – Scan & Share ("the App") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the application.

2. Information we collect

The App does not require user registration and does not collect personal information such as name, email address, phone number, contacts, or payment details.

However, the App uses third-party services that may collect non-personal information automatically.

Automatically collected information

The following data may be collected automatically through third-party services:

• Device information (such as device model and operating system version)

• App usage data (such as screens viewed and actions taken)

• Crash logs and diagnostics data

• Approximate location (derived from IP address, primarily used for advertising and analytics)

3. Receipt data and AI processing

When you scan a bill or receipt, the image and extracted text may be processed to provide receipt parsing and bill-splitting features.

• Receipt images and extracted text are processed only to deliver app functionality

• Receipt data is not used to identify users

• Receipt data is not sold or shared for marketing purposes

Depending on enabled features, receipt data may be temporarily processed by third-party AI services strictly to extract structured information (such as items, totals, or taxes).

4. Third-party services

The App uses the following third-party services:

• Firebase Analytics
  Used to understand how users interact with the App and to improve features and user experience.

• Firebase Crashlytics
  Used to detect crashes and technical issues in order to improve app stability and performance.

• Firebase Remote Config
  Used to remotely configure app behavior and features without requiring an app update.

• Google AdMob
  Used to display advertisements. AdMob may collect and process information such as device identifiers and approximate location to provide and measure ads.

• Google Gemini API (Google Generative AI)
  Used to process receipt images and extracted text in order to identify items, totals, and taxes and provide bill-splitting functionality. Receipt data is processed only to deliver app features and is not used for advertising or user profiling. 

All third-party services process data in accordance with their own privacy policies and Google’s Privacy Policy.

5. Data storage

User preferences, settings, scanned receipt data, and bill calculations may be stored locally on the user’s device.

This data is not transmitted to the developer unless required for optional AI-based processing and can be removed by uninstalling the App or clearing the App’s data.

6. Data sharing

We do not sell or share personal information with third parties.

Non-personal data may be processed by third-party services strictly for:

• Analytics

• Diagnostics

• Advertising

• Core app functionality

7. Children’s privacy

The App is not intended for children under the age of 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe that a child has provided personal data through the App, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.

8. Data security

We take reasonable measures to protect data processed by the App.

However, no method of electronic storage or transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time.

Any changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this document.
