TPE 6 focuses on professional responsibilities, communication, collaboration, ethics, and continual growth.
Teachers are lifelong learners and role models. Professionalism influences how we communicate with families, colleagues, and students.
Creating my parent brochure helped me reflect on how I want to communicate professionally and compassionately with families. I learned the importance of accessibility, clarity, and warmth when speaking to parents about classroom expectations, homework routines, and learning goals. This assignment reminded me that families are essential partners in student success. As I grow as an educator, I will continue to build strong relationships grounded in trust, communication, and collaboration.
Completing my Individual Development Plan helped me reflect on my teaching practice and identify specific areas for growth. Based on feedback from my mentor teacher and university supervisor, I set goals focused on improving my questioning, increasing checking for understanding, and strengthening academic language support for my students. This process helped me see the importance of using feedback to guide my development and continuously improve my instruction. As a future teacher, I will continue to reflect on my teaching and set goals that help me grow professionally and better support my students.
