TPE 4 highlights the ability to design learning experiences that meet the needs of diverse learners, including ELs, students with disabilities, and advanced learners.
All students learn differently, and teachers have a responsibility to plan instruction that is accessible, differentiated, and meaningful.
This assignment challenged me to consider the needs of every learner and design instruction that supports their success. I explored differentiation, UDL strategies, and scaffolds such as sentence frames, visuals, kinesthetic tasks, and small-group support. I learned that planning must be intentional and proactive, not reactive. This assignment strengthened my ability to design learning experiences that promote equity and access for all students.
Completing my curriculum design assignment helped me develop a stronger understanding of how to plan and organize instruction over multiple lessons. I designed a three-lesson sequence focused on building background knowledge, making inferences, and applying understanding through writing, all aligned to grade-level standards. This assignment helped me see the importance of intentionally planning instruction, using scaffolds like sentence frames and graphic organizers, and gradually releasing responsibility to students. As a future teacher, I will use this experience to design lessons that are structured, purposeful, and responsive to student needs.Â
