There is a great variety of species (or "races") that can be found and played in Legends of the Aether: Tykonia. Some playable races are divided into subspecies, which further define a character's physicality, appearance, and sometimes their abilities.
*An old Thavàri word, introduced to Tykonia during the Karrimen migration. Used to refer to all sapient peoples without distinction. Subspecies are referred to as Kyndred, and are linked within each kynd's page. The Common species typically resemble or share many traits with humans, and most of these species can inter-mingle with one another. These species are extremely common and can be found almost everywhere, including outside their respective regions.
It is unwise to consider the Beastfolk mere beasts, inferior to commonkynd. Though oft physically representing commonkynd, the beastkynd's origins are dubious; however significant strides have been made in uncovering how they first gained sapience.
