❗ Some of the Rules and Guides, as of writing this 06/10/2025, are not final until this message is removed; they are subject to change.
As a roleplayer, you’re expected to act in line with logic and reason. Bestial Roleplayers are expected to follow the following rules:
Unless specifically stated otherwise, wildlife will NOT enter cities or towns.
Unless specifically stated otherwise, wildlife must FOLLOW their behaviours present in their pages.
Unless specifically stated otherwise, wildlife must FOLLOW all rules about normal characters.
The only time when these rules may come into effect is under the express permission of a Staff Member, whether for an event or otherwise.
All Wildlife adhere to a separate to-be-killed rule than typical characters;
If a beast attacks first, it is considered APTK/APTC.
In some (SPECIFIED) situations, this may be void; see: individual beasts.
If a beast is attacked first, it is considered PTK/PTC.
Another important thing to take note of is that LOTA takes place in a fantasy world, and many real-world animals that we see today will not be present. Thus, roleplaying them is illogical. Roleplayers are expected to use the provided monsters on the wiki, as abuse of real-world creatures (such as a particular venomous snake) is moderatable. However, there are some exceptions, and certain animals from the real world exist without restriction:
Domestic Dog, Cat, Cow, Pig, Horse, Sheep, Goat, Chicken, Duck, Goose, Pigeon, Dove, Turkey, Llama, Alpaca, Bees, Ferret, Rabbit, Goldfish, Canary, Koi, Hedgehogs, Silkmoths, and Donkey.
Any Rat or Mouse.
Monstrology is the study of critters, creatures, and monsters within Keleva. It’s a fairly recent form of study given the relative unknown of many beasts on the continent. However, it’s led to a more thorough understanding of these creatures - furthered by various groups around the continent.
The term was first coined by Dr. Tylul Monstrum, who began study of Keleva’s wildlife in earnest some decades ago. Since his passing, a number of independent efforts have been made to better grasp and catalog each beast of this wayward place. Many of these Monstrologists have since collected into the Guild of Monstrous Affairs, which exists still to this day.
Critters are small animals, oftentimes likened to a pet or pest. Many Kelevan critters produce byproducts that alchemists fancy themselves to, and are the most numerous of any beast found within the Kelevas. Typically, critters are nonaggressive; or attack only when provoked.
Creatures are medium animals, typically livestock or roving wildlife. Many are territorial and undomesticated, while others are fitted to ride into the fires of war without a quaver in their breath.
Monsters are beasts of large or extremely large sizes. They are the first form of beast categorized by Dr. Monstrum after an incident that left him with a yearning to know more about these animals. Almost all monsters are highly territorial, and equally as aggressive.
Furthermore, the Guild's studies have built upon the original efforts of Dr. Monstrum. As the number of beasts cataloged grows, members began to notice traits that appeared across different animals that remained consistent in some areas. This discovery led to the belief that these beasts were derived or descended from a common ancestor; resulting in the foundation of Monster Taxonomy. In order to better visualize and categorize these groups, the Guild created classes which correspond to mutual traits - they go as follows: Koposeran, Sorkogan, Arrackian, Martindun and Obscuran.
Koposerans are beasts that possess fur, warmblood, and give birth to live young. They’re the family that Humans and other humanoid races belong to. Given the abundance of Koposerans, some use subclassifications when referring to more direct group:
Fanged Koposerans have sharp teeth and claws - typically predatory.
Horned Koposerans have horns or antlers - usually herbivorous.
Wood Elves, Fauns and Minotaurs belong to this group.
Primate Koposerans are known for higher intellect and dexterity.
Sorkogans are beasts that possess scales or feathers, partially or fully cold blood, and lay eggs. Given the abundance of Sorkogans, some use subclassifications when referring to more direct group:
Arrackians are beasts that possess segmented bodies, cold blood, and lay eggs. Given the abundance of Arrackians, some use subclassifications when referring to more direct group:
Martinduns are beasts that possess gills, scaly bodies, cold blood, and lay eggs. Given the abundance of Martinduns, some use subclassifications when referring to more direct group:
Fish Martindun are gilled, finned creatures.
Gillians presumably belong to this group.
Leviathan Martindun are defined by their enormous size.
Obscurans are beasts that do not fit any one classification. Given the variety of Obscurans, some use subclassifications when referring to a more direct group:
Natural Obscurans are those believed to have emerged via natural processes or phenomena as of unknown to Kelevan science and Monstrology.
Trolls belong to this group.
Artificial Obscurans are those believed to have emerged via melding from forces outside nature.
