LYRICS:
You – you stand out in the crowd
How – I wanna be with you now
But his hands on your shoulder and that looks so familiar
And I just know that I’ll see you around
You – and I wont make a sound
How – theres something unsaid between us now
Remember me when this is over,
I’ll wait for you to come back around
Facing everything you missed its hard to let go of a wish now
Togethers how we want our shit, but no one wants the baggage that comes with it
But his hands on your shoulder and that looks so familiar
And I just know that I’ll see you around
See You Around:
I wrote this song after going to a BBQ. I'd spend the weekend recording songs and ideas and then in the evening went with my flatmates to a houseparty/BBQ with bits of songs and ideas still swimming around in my head. It was your standard 30 somethings Cambridge houseshare social - someone I knew, knew someone at the party so we all went - and as always there was crossover, you bumped into people who worked with people you also knew or lived in other houseshares you knew in town. I left thinking about the interconnectedness of the social scene and wrote this work of fiction about it - largely centred around the chord rhythm, and I instantly heard the high ostinato guitar pedals forming a big part of the song. Friends have told me that this song sounds like an American High School movie soundtrack - which I agree with (but that wasnt the intention). I wrote this and 'Atmosphere' at the same time - whilst commuting in the car and singing voice note recordings into my phone in laybys and car parks - there's something about the mental state I get into when driving - concentrating but also open and fresh - its the mind equivalent of driving with the windows down - ideas flow through.
