LYRICS:
(Ohh woah woah)
When every door just looks the same
So you stare at the floor like the choice is to blame
Theres a road not travelled but thats part of the game
(Ohh woah woah)
I’m falling into your atmosphere
(Ohh woah woah)
I never thought I’d be this near
Now the roads I take are bad to ride
But the journey forces you to find
Methods to the questions you cant hide
(Ohh woah woah)
I’m falling into your atmosphere
(Ohh woah woah)
I never thought I’d be this near
Atmosphere:
This song happened at the same time as 'See You Around' - and there's definitely something of the American Highschool Movie soundtrack about the sound - this was unintentional and just how the two tracks came out. Based on a big hook, I knew early on that this would be the album opener and would set the tone for the record. The theme of the song is actually pretty vague - the melodies and arrangement are definitely the focus rather than the words, they're just something to belt out over the chords! There's a little bit of a theme in the verses about being lost in life and having to make decisions, but its loose. Far more important is the arrangement - the drops where the texture cuts out and you hear the crazy electronic 'robot' drums (imagine a robot dancing during these moments - I do) or the single guitar lines keeping an ostinato going - its all about playing with light and shade - big textures and volume, then cutting, then hitting you with it again. Its a song to dance to and to shout to.
