This study is relevant because water resources management is moving beyond simply balancing water supply and demand toward protecting the quality of the water we already have. Reducing nonpoint source pollution from stormwater runoff is one way to safeguard existing water resources and make them more usable for different community and environmental needs. By examining dog waste disposal behavior and stormwater education, this study helps identify practical ways to reduce nutrient and bacterial pollution entering local waterways, including the Indian River Lagoon.
