The Indian River County Natural Resources Department supports the County’s efforts to meet the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Phase II program through Minimum Control Measure 1: Public Education and Outreach and Minimum Control Measure 2: Public Involvement and Participation. This project connects the two measures by evaluating how stormwater education and public engagement can encourage behavior change regarding pet waste disposal. It focuses on improving outreach and educational efforts to reduce nutrient and bacterial pollution in stormwater runoff from pet waste, ultimately helping protect local waterways and the Indian River Lagoon.
