Value Statements

We are NOT a secular group, nor are we exclusively Christian. We invite all those who love God, are striving to follow God, and want a leadership education for themselves and their children to come be a part of our homeschool commonwealth. While we are an inclusive group, we value talking about and living deeply-held religious beliefs. For some that may include Jesus Christ, for others, it doesn’t. Every family shares an individual anchor in God and desires to follow their God-given missions.

• We recognize God as a foundational pillar of our school and our lives. This shared foundation centers our commitment to character, purposeful learning, and ethical leadership, welcoming all members of our community regardless of their specific religion or spiritual connection. 

• Every person is created with inherent worth, unique gifts, and a God-given purpose.

• Prayer is our cornerstone. We commit to starting our gatherings in prayer, teaching our children the value of a prayerful life, and standing together in faith.

• Parents are the primary mentors and educators of their children, and strong families are the foundation of healthy communities and societies.

• We believe that marriage is defined as the union between one man and one woman.

• We believe every person is created by God with inherent dignity, purpose, and a God-given identity.

• We believe that God intentionally created humanity as male and female, and we honor this foundational design in our lives, our learning, and our leadership.

• We recognize the historical, cultural, and moral significance of the Bible as a foundational core text and welcome its use within our community.

• We value the principles of liberty, virtue, self-governance, and personal responsibility that informed the founding of the United States.

• We value the wisdom of the Founding Fathers and the enduring principles expressed in the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution, recognizing both the freedoms they protect and the responsibilities they require.

The Founder, Kellie Hardy's Beliefs

(These are shared with the intention that the values listed above have a presence of foundation. These are not expected to be beliefs that are held in your family, however, they are shared so there is insight into the intention, love, and heart that was the foundation of this commonwealth. )

Hi, I’m Kellie Hardy, the founder of Lookout Academy. I founded this commonwealth with the desire to support other homeschooling families in the community, provide my children with a leadership education based in the classics, and enjoy rubbing shoulders with other God-centered, faith-based families. I value the principles taught by Jesus Christ, that are also taught by many of the other religions in the world. 

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I believe God guides us with his word through scripture: The Bible, The Book of Mormon, The Doctrine and Covenants, and The Pearl of Great Price. These books are my measuring sticks for what is right and wrong, good and bad, true and false. I believe in God and His Son, Jesus Christ (the Savior), and in the Holy Ghost, as described in the Bible and further testified of in the Book of Mormon.

I agree with and follow the 10 commandments as found in Exodus 20: 2-17. 

       I believe in obeying God’s will as communicated to us through scripture, personal revelation through the Holy Ghost, and revelation to all people from modern prophets and apostles. I  also use these tools and prayer to seek truth, wisdom, understanding, and guidance.

I believe God teaches us right from wrong though our conscience. In addition, God can further teach us right from wrong, guide us in our lives, comfort us, and testify of truth through the Holy Ghost.  

I value and enjoy studying the teachings of both world and faith leaders. They show me such a variety of ways of living a principle-centered life that is meaningful, purposeful, and influential for good.

I believe in servant leadership, as taught by Jesus Christ “But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.” KJV Matt. 23:11 

I believe in using our gifts for good because Jesus taught "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven" (KJV Matt. 5:16), and I recognize each person as having their own divinely-given strengths, interests, and mission.
