For this project, I researched the impacts of social media on my life and society all together.
I took the "Am I Addicted to Social Media" quiz to find out if i am addicted to using social media. The results are,
You're fairly reliant on social media, but there are far worse culprits! Still, it's good to be reminded that UK adults spend an average of 8 hrs 41 mins on screens every day, and 4 hours of that on smartphone apps alone (mainly social media). That's about a third of each day checking apps. Do you need to rethink your social media habits and the amount of time you spend scrolling?
I do not believe I need to rethink. I spend around 2-3 hours on social media daily. I feel that it is a good amount of time on social media. I could decrease it slightly but not by much.
The Most interesting stat that I found was on the number of people under 30 that rely on getting their news from tiktok.
In my opinion, social media has a huge impact on a lot of people's lives both negative and positive. I have made a lot of my friends through social media who I can connect with people who have similar interests. However, there is also a negative side to social media which a lot of people face. This would be mental health. Mental health is one my the biggest issues with social media.
I learned that I am reliant on social media but I feel that I am at a good amount of social media. I have also realized that social media can affect people mentally and I need to be aware of this and make sure to not let social media affect my mental health.
