John 14:1-7
Jesus Comforts His Disciples
1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.”
5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
John 17:3
Now this is Eternal Life
3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
There is a heaven...Heaven is God's House...Jesus describes it as My Father's House has many rooms......Heaven is in Jesus and our Father's house...Heaven is large...It has a lot of space and rooms...Jesus tells us there are many rooms in heaven...
When our heart or soul is troubled, we should think of this verse...We should think of Heaven...Jesus wanted to bring comfort with these verses...He mentions Heaven in His comforting Words...And how many of us have not been in a situation like this...A time when we were deeply troubled...When we are needing help, in troubled times, we must remember that God has a Great House called Heaven, and Jesus is there...This is the truth...If this weren't the truth, Jesus would have told us so...
Jesus tells the Twelve that He is going to heaven and will prepare a place for them in Heaven...So Heaven is not only for Jesus, who was perfect from sin, it is for people like us, who have fallen short of the glory of God and have sinned...Like His disciples, who had faults, had questions, denied Jesus (more than once), wanted to see Him with their own eyes (Thomas in John 20:25), and were sinners, (the disciples) were much like us...
Jesus tells us He will "come back" from heaven...He will return from heaven and take the Twelve with Him...When He comes back, He will take us with Him, so that we can be where He is...We will be with Him...When we get there with Him, we will always be with Him...We will be in eternity with the Father and Son...An eternal life with the Father and Son...
We know the place where Jesus went...He went after His resurrection after meeting with His Disciples went back to His Father's house, Heaven...The way to get to Heaven is through Jesus...In fact, Jesus says He is the Only Way to God and to Heaven...
We must believe in God and believe also in Him, the Son...We may not understand how this is going to happen or how this will work after we pass...In fact this is hard for most to understand...I doubt if His Disciples understood the process of how they would get to Heaven...That is why we must trust in God, And to trust also in Jesus...For without Jesus we would not have known this about heaven...We would not have known the way...Therefore, we must trust Him, even though we do not fully understand how to get to heaven, like the questioning disciples did (to trust Him)...To have eternal life we must know God and Jesus...Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom God sent...
Heaven, His Father's house is a place of comfort...Jesus is there...Jesus is now with His disciples and those who knew and believed in Him and followed His Way to get there...
