Long before the arrival of the settlers,
the Kalibugans were already living in the place and were practicing slash and burn farming (kaingin). They lived quietly and contentedly in the place. Years later, surveyors arrived and asked some people in the lower portion of the area, called Veterans Village, about the name of the place. Their question went unanswered. Continuing their survey, they noticed many Lumbia trees along the way. They decided to name the place Lumbia. On July 26, 1946, Brgy. Lumbia was created under the Municipality of Ipil.
In the middle of 60’s until late 70’s, the Kalibugans started leaving the place and transferred to other places. The Christians settled in Lumbia and continued what was left of the Kalibugan’s works. settlers continued to arrive and soon the population increased. agricultural lands were developed and planted with rubber and coconut.
