LUMBIA SQUAD IN ACTION....
FIRST PHASE (FEBRUARY, 2023)
The team met with Barangay Council to discuss the plans for the resupply of the Barangay Health Station and the procurement of a barangay emergency response vehicle. As voiced out by the barangay captain, the barangay is currently in a financial deficit as it is still recovering the funds that were utilized in the pandemic response, though they would give their support to any fundraising activities for this purpose. With this, the team reached out to several private foundations and are currently awaiting response.
On Feb 23, 2023, the team conducted a basic triage training for the barangay health workers and community volunteers at the Barangay Covered Court. This training aimed to empower the barangay health workers and volunteers in the community with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform basic triage such as measuring vital signs and recognizing abnormal values. Upon completing the training, the participants gave a return demonstration and all passed. The skills and knowledge gained by the participants, especially the barangay health workers, will aid them in their assessment, monitoring, and referral of the patients that come to the barangay health station. By increasing the capabilities of the barangay health workers, we aim to ease the process of getting medical attention for the patients that come in for consultation in the absence of the midwife and nurse.
