What Are the Top Social Media Sites?

In January 2024, Statista published a list of the most popular social networks worldwide based on the number of monthly active users. Below is a bar graph of the top sites in terms of millions. The top three social media networks were Facebook with 3,049,000,000 active users per month, YouTube with 2,491,000,000 active users per month, and WhatsApp with 2,000,000,000 active users per month. 

Let's Review 3 Topic Social Media Sites

Blogger Kristen McCormick did a review on the top social media platforms on a world wide scale in February 2024. She also found that the top 3 sites were Facebook, YouTube, and WhatsApp. Her review helps to break down who’s using each platform and what type of content will work best for the respective platforms.  Based on McCormick's findings, I will share tips on how to use these top three sites for the everyday user. Facebook helps you connect with friends, family and communities of people who share your interests. Connecting with your friends and family as well as discovering new ones is easy with features like Groups, Watch and Marketplace. (Meta, 2024)

YouTube is a free video sharing website that makes it easy to watch online videos. You can even create and upload your own videos to share with others. Originally created in 2005, YouTube is now one of the most popular sites on the Web, with visitors watching around 6 billion hours of video every month. (GCF Global)

WhatsApp is free and offers simple, secure, reliable messaging and calling, available on phones all over the world. And yes, the name WhatsApp is a pun on the phrase What's Up. WhatsApp is part of Meta, who also own Facebook and Instagram. (WhatsApp, 2024)
