Everything is going very well with our fantastic Lion Marching Band! Please see below for information about our upcoming fall marching season as well as all of our football game and marching performance dates. If you know of anyone band member or parent who is not currently receiving these messages, please share as needed.
Summer Marching Camp
Daily Marching Band rehearsals will continue this week from 8 am – 4 pm. Please note that there will be no Marching Band this Friday, Aug. 1st.
Next week we will begin evening rehearsals on Monday, Aug. 4th, from 4 – 8 pm on weekdays through Tuesday, August 12th.
MISD Stadium Renovation Update
Please see the attached letter from our Principal, Tim Williams, on the current state of the renovations that are on-going at the MISD Stadium.
Upcoming Performances
Our Lion Drumline will be performing this coming Monday, August 4th, in conjunction with the Montgomery HS drumline. Our schedule will be as follows:
9:45 am – Arrive at LCHS; please park or drop-off in the back of the school at door #36
10:10 am – Line up at auditorium entrance for performance
10:20 am – Play for MISD teachers and staff as they enter for the annual convocation
11:00 am – Return to band hall; drop off equipment; student departure/pick-up
Please keep in mind that we will have afternoon/evening rehearsal at 4 – 8 pm.
The Lion Marching Band’s first public performance will be next Friday, August 8th, from 9 am to 12 pm in the auditorium at the First Roar. We will be greeting and playing for all incoming 9th graders. All 9th grade band members will participate with the band through the presentation in the auditorium and then proceed to tour the campus and receive schedules with the rest of the 9th grade class after our performance. I will send a more detailed schedule of the event next week.
Marching Band Fundraiser
Please see the attachment concerning our upcoming SchoolFundr fundraiser that we will be kicking of tomorrow, Wednesday, July 30. Please make your best attempt to complete the attachment as much as possible so that we can get a great start to our fundraiser We’ll have more information for everyone once we officially kick-off our fundraising campaign.
Flip folders & lyres
All band students must have a flip folder and lyre to hold music on their instrument. With the exception of flute, snare and tenor drums, all students can purchase and use this folder to hold their music: https://tinyurl.com/457u4vzw .
Lyres are the small music stands made for various instrument. You may look online for your instrument specific lyre or you may purchase any necessary music accessories from Music & Arts in Conroe or H&H Music in The Woodlands. Please purchase these items in a timely manner.
Lion Band Boosters Update
Students were given forms last week and yesterday for the Feed the Lions program. This is a program that our Lion Band Boosters organize to make sure that all band students have food for dinner before each football game of the year. If students do not participate in Feed the Lions, they must provide their own food for dinner before each game. Feed the Lions forms are officially due today.
The apparel store will be open again for one week only starting yesterday, 7/28, through Friday, 8/1. Take advantage of this last push and order your gear. The show shirt is available along with the matching PARENT SHIRT. https://nhathletics.com/lake-creek-band/

Lion Band Parents,
As we get closer to the end of our current school year, it’s time for our final concerts of the year to celebrate and show off the abilities of our great band students. We will start with the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble concert on Monday and then we will switch over to our Jazz Bands for Wednesday’s concert. We hope to see everyone in attendance for these amazing performances.
Also, please see below for information about our upcoming fall marching season as well as all of our football game and marching performance dates.
Monday, May 5th – LCHS Band Spring Concert – 6:30 pm
Students have been requested to wear there “Sunday best” for our concert on Monday meaning business casual attire. Please no jeans for any student. Boys’ attire should consist of at least slacks and a collared shirt, but more formal attire such as a shirt and tie would not be out of place. We ask that ladies’ attire please be within dress code. The schedule for Monday will be as follows:
5:15 pm – Band hall opens
5:45 pm – Symphonic Band warm-up begins
6:00 pm – Wind Ensemble arrives to be seated together in the auditorium
6:30 pm – Performance begins
8:15 pm – Performance concludes
We will have a sound engineer present to record the performances. If you are not seated during a student performance, please wait until the performance has concluded to find a seat. Please do not speak during performances so that we may have the best quality of recording possible.
Wednesday, May 7th – LCHS Jazz Concert – 6:30 pm
Both Jazz Bands will wear their typical contest attire for this performance. Jazz Ensemble should be dressed in concert black.

Physicals for Marching Band
As per every year, students must acquire a physical from a licensed physician to participate in athletics and other physical activities like marching band before their participation in the organization begins. Physicals will be given here at Lake Creek after school in the athletics department on Wed., May 14th. If you would like to take advantage of physicals on that day, please pay through the Rank One portal on the Lake Creek Athletics webpage. Students who elect to have their physical here will be pre-screened for their physical during band classes next week Tuesday – Thursday.

Lion Band Parents,
Last Saturday the Jazz Ensemble performed at the 2nd Annual Klein Forest Jazz Fest at Fallbrook Church. The band won their second consecutive 1st division as well as three outstanding soloist awards. Kate Allmon, Brett Harrington and Jackson Parrot were recognized for their outstanding solos and Jackson was recognized as the best guitarist of the day. A remarkable result for a remarkable band!
Next Tuesday, both the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble will be traveling to Huntsville High School to participate in the Music Region 9 UIL Concert and Sight Reading Evaluation. The groups will be traveling at different times during the day. Please see below for the schedules.

Tuesday, April 15th – UIL Concert and Sight Reading at Huntsville High School
Symphonic Band
The Symphonic Band will be excused for the entirety of the day. We requested the entire day as the school will be administering a STAAR End-of-Course (EOC) exam, and we do not want to disturb the state of the school in testing mode. We have already made arrangements with the school testing coordinator for the 10th graders to take their STAAR EOC at a later date.
Students will need to be dressed in their formal black concert uniform at the start of the day. Students will need to bring their own water bottle to be left on the bus for the day. Breakfast will be served 1st period. Our schedule will be as below:
7:20 am – Symphonic Band reports to band hall 1st period; Sonic breakfast burritos will be served
7:50 am – Warm-up; short rehearsal
8:30 am – Load equipment on trailer
9:00 am – Depart for Huntsville HS
10:15 am – Arrive at Huntsville HS; check-in; unload

Congratulations are in order to the Jazz Band. Last Thursday both the Lab Band and Jazz Performed at the 33rd annual Temple College Jazz Fest. The Jazz Ensemble received straight 1’s earning them their 3rd straight Outstanding Performance award in as many years. 4 members of the Lab Band and 8 members of the Jazz Ensemble received outstanding soloist awards. The Jazz Ensemble will continue on to this Saturday’s Klein Forest Jazz Festival. The itinerary is below.

Lion Band Parents,
Our Pre-UIL concerts were tremendously successfully yesterday. It was a rewarding and informative performance as all of our judges had great insighst for us on how to further improve our performances before our official UIL performance. Thank you all for ensuring that every band student had the correct uniform parts for their formal performances. Everyone looked very professional, and that aspect does raise the level of performance for everyone.

Thursday, March 27th – Jazz Bands at Temple College Jazz Festival
Both the Lab Band and Jazz Ensemble will be traveling on Thursday to Temple College. Please ensure that students in the appropriate attire. Jazz Ensemble will perform in solid formal black. Lab Band will wear their “Sunday Best”, meaning no blue jeans or t-shirts. Please give students enough access to funds so that can pay for two meals while we are on the road. We will eat an early lunch here in Montgomery at the shops at 105 & 2854 and we will eat dinner in Temple before we depart back to LCHS. Our schedule will be as follows:
9:02 am – Jazz students report at normal class time; a short rehearsal will follow
9:25 am – Load equipment onto charter bus; load students
9:45 am – Depart for lunch at shops at 105 & 2845
10:00 am – Lunch; several restaurants will be already opened such as Chick-fil-A, Jersey Mike’s, Panda Express & Starbuck’s

We had everyone had a restful spring break. Today marks the of the 4th and final quarter of the school year, so we are currently headed towards our upcoming UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluation. Please see below for our information about our upcoming Pre-UIL event.
As the end of the school year approaches, all students have many assessments ahead. Please encourage all students to regularly attend school so that they are present to thoroughly learn the materials required for all assessments in all classes.

Pre-UIL & UIL Concert and Sight Reading Attire
Next Monday we will be hosting the MISD Pre-UIL Solo & Ensemble Evaluation here at the Lake Creek Auditorium. We will be performing in formal concert attire.
Ladies formal attire will consist of black pants, a black blouse with at least a ¾ sleeve and black shoes that cover the toes and heel completely.
For men, formal attire will consist black pant, black non-athletic shoes, black socks and a white tuxedo shirt. The tux shirt should be the appropriate size with a wing collar and (1/4”) pleats. We will provide men a tuxedo jacket, a bowtie and a cummerbund. You can purchase the shirt on Amazon on the link below. If you would prefer to purchase a tuxedo shirt in person, you may try the Men’s Wearhouse in Conroe, but they may not have shirts to these exact specifications.

Members of the 2nd period Symphonic Band will be excused from several classes next Monday morning, where members of the 5th period Wind Ensemble will be excused from several classes in the afternoon. The schedule will be as follows.

Lion Band Parents,
Our Solo & Ensemble contest last Saturday was a great success. Twelve Lion Band members made a 1st division on their solo with ten of them advancing to the Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest (TSSEC). All 6 of our ensembles, comprised of 21 students, made 1st divisions and will also advance to TSSEC.
This Saturday, our wonderful band boosters will be hosting our 1st annual spring picnic with food, fun and games. All band members and family members are welcome to join in the fun at April Sound (100 April Park Dr.) from 11 am to 3 pm. New York Trip
Participants in our upcoming New York trip are departing next Thursday at 5 AM from the Montgomery High School Band Hall (door #48). Students are permitted one suitcase to check-in at baggage as well as one carry-on and one small bag for the plane ride. Mr. Boozer has 2 luggage tags for each participant for your luggage and carry-on.
All bags of all students and parents attending must be brought to band hall during next Wednesday before 1 pm so that they can be transported to Montgomery HS for the official bag check conducted by the school district at 3:30 pm. Once bags have been checked additional items cannot be placed in any bag.
Please ensure that all student medication is turned in to the nurse with the overnight trip medication authorization on Wednesday as well. Mr. Boozer will have medication available for students when needed.
All participants should download the Remind app to your phone so you receive all communication during the trip. The Remind group is @misdnyc25 with group number 81010.
Senior Scholarships
All senior students have received a scholarship form to apply for a band booster scholarship which will be awarded at this year’s annual band banquet. All senior scholarships are due Tuesday, March 4th, which is the Tuesday before Spring Break.

If you or your student are attending the New York Trip, we will have a mandatory informational meeting this Thursday at 7 pm in the MHS band hall. Enter at Door #48. Please be in attendance as our travel agent will be in attendance to answer any questions you may have.

Region 9 Solo & Ensemble Contest
Solo & Ensemble contest is this weekend. There are several attachments pertaining to the event attachment to this email. We asking students to provide their transportation to Oak Ridge High School (27330 Oak Ridge School Rd, Conroe, TX 77385) in the interest of cost. Please check your individual times on the attached spreadsheet schedule.
Lion Band Banquet
Our Lion Band Banquet is scheduled for Saturday, April 12th, to celebrate this year band and their accomplishments. All parents and students may click on the link below to a Google Form to choose their preferred banquet theme for this year’s banquet. Senior Scholarships
All senior students have received a scholarship form to apply for a band booster scholarship which will be awarded at this year’s annual band banquet. All senior scholarships are due Tuesday, March 4th, which is the Tuesday before Spring Break.

The Lion Band’s incredible tuba player extraordinaire, DJ Haynes, will be attending the annual TMEA Clinic & Convention this Wednesday through Saturday with the band directors to perform in the 5A All-State Band Concert on Saturday. It’s a great honor for DJ and even better concert as he will be performing with the finest musicians from all of Texas’s 5A high schools. Wish him the best!

Mattress Fundraiser
Our mattress fundraiser is this Saturday, February 1st at 10 am to 5 pm here at Lake Creek. We are currently in need of volunteers, both students and parents, to help assist with a few simple items on Saturday. Students have already been requested to sign up to assist this Saturday on our sign-up sheet in the band hall. We will have 4 separate shifts during which time we would like to have 3 parents and 12 students available in the cafeteria here to assist. This shift times are 9:45-11:45 am, 11:30 am-1:30 pm, 1:15-3:15 pm and 3-5 pm. If you are available to assist, please let me know when you are available. Thank you.

Area/All-State Band Auditions – Saturday, January 10th, 9:30 am, Dekaney High School
Band students who qualified at the region audition for Area to tryout the All-State Band will be trying out tomorrow at Dekaney High School, 22351 Imperial Valley Dr, Houston, TX 77073. Please make sure that you have eaten before the event, but also bring funds for concessions. The schedule for tomorrow is below.
9:30 am – Arrive at Dekaney High School; warm-up in cafeteria
10:15 am – Student audition room check-in; make sure it is your instrument in the 5A competition
Approx. 2:30 pm – Students may depart once results for their instrument is posted
Mattress Fundraiser
We will have a Zoom parent meeting next Wednesday, January 15th, at 7 pm concerning information for our upcoming mattress fundraiser. We would like as many people as possbible to participate in the meeting.
The fundraiser itself will be on Saturday, February 1st at 10 am to 5 pm here at Lake Creek.

New York Trip Reminder
For those of you who signed up for the upcoming out-of-state trip to New York over Spring Break, please be aware that your final payment is due next Wednesday, January 15th. Our travel agent has also asked that we make sure everyone has used the name that is on their travel id when they registered, so airline tickets match name.
Additionally, they will do the rooming list in the next couple of weeks, so please have the students and chaperons start thinking about who they want to room with. They will try to accommodate any requests, and Montgomery & Lake Creek students can share a room together if they want to.

5A Region Band Auditions – Friday, Dec. 6th, 4 pm Check-in at Huntsville HS
26 members of the band have volunteered to audition for the Region 9 5A Band Auditions this Friday at Huntsville High School. Those students will need to provide their transportation to and from the event. All participating students will need to check-in to the event at 4 pm, so students will be released from 8th period on Friday in order to allow themselves enough time to arrive in a timely manner. We recommend that students eat a snack or dinner prior to the event as several instrument auditions will run late into the evening. There will be concessions at Huntsville HS during the auditions, so students may want to plan to have additional funds to purchase snacks. Each instrument audition will end at a different time, so students are free to leave once their audition results have been posted.
Jazz Bands at April Sound Church Advent Festival – Sunday, Dec. 8, 5:30 pm
Both the Lab Band and Jazz Ensemble will be performing this Sunday at April Sound Church for their annual Advent Festival. The uniform will the same as it is for the Christmas Concert on Monday, slacks (no jeans) and an “ugly” Christmas sweater. Times will be as follows:

Lion Band Parents,
Sadly, our football season came to an end last week, and so our 2024 marching season has come to a close as well. It was a memorable almost 5 month time in our lives as it was also our most successful season in the school’s history. Mr. Martinez and I truly appreciate all the time and energy that the students, parents and volunteers put in to make it such an unforgettable experience.
With that said, we are moving forward into our concert band time of year with our upcoming Christmas Concert on Monday, Dec. 9th. I have added 2 practices for our 2nd period concert band starting next week.
Upcoming Rehearsals
The two rehearsals listed below are necessary not only for the Symphonic Band to practice for a few additional hours, but also very necessary for our new beginning band members to practice with the Symphonic Band as they will be performing together at the beginning our portion of the concert. Beginning Band members need only to attend from 3 – 4 pm as the Symphonic Band will continue to practice their pieces after the beginners depart. Beginning Band students are encouraged to stay for the entire time to work on harder material with the Symphonic Band, but they are not required to.

This Friday, Nov. 7th, the drumline will be performing for the Child Advocates of Montgomery County. Drumline students have been excused from periods 1-3. Drumline will perform as meeting members arrive at 8:20 am in the ballroom at Margaritaville. Dress will be band polo and jeans.
On Saturday, Nov. 8th, we will meet at 11:45 am at the Grand Central Park Lake House for a 12 pm performance. The performance should be complete by 1:30 pm. Dress will be band t-shirt and jeans. We will return all instruments on Monday morning.

Thank you to everyone who helped with our successful Area Marching Band contest! The Lion Band put on their greatest performance to date at just the right time. The Lion Band could not be as successful as we are throughout the marching contest season without the help of our very supportive Lion Band Boosters and our sponsors who provide so much for us. As the saying goes, “It takes a village”, and we truly feel that our village comes together to ensure our best outcome at every contest.

Lion Band Parents,
The Lion Band had an outstanding first contest this past Saturday at The US Bands Showcase in Madisonville. The band placed 4th overall and won both the overall music award in our division as well as best percussion of the day. We hope this great start is an indicatory of future successes for band as our contest season is just beginning. We will be at the Galena Park Marching Festival this Saturday. Our schedule is below.
This is also Lake Creek’s Homecoming week, and we have several events to celebrate. On Wednesday, the school will be putting on our annual Homecoming parade here at the school which will be followed by a brief pep rally in the LCHS stadium. Again, details are below.
Our Homecoming game is our cross district rival, Montgomery. Due to the Homecoming presentation at Friday’s game, we will be performing our UIL show after the game on Friday night.

Wednesday’s band practice will end earlier than normal so that we can prepare for the homecoming parade. There will be a brief pep rally at the Lake Creek Stadium after the parade. Students should wear the t-shirt with the alien iron-on and their gray band shorts. (Students who did not turn in t-shirt need to wear their band polo.
5:00 pm – Rehearsal ends; return to band hall; water and snack break
5:30 pm – The band will walk to parade starting area
6:00 pm – Parade begins
6:45 pm – Parade ends; band will file onto the Lion Stadium field

We will provide food and drinks for lunch. Students should wear their Into the Cosmos show shirt or a solid black or navy t-shirt with their athletic shorts, black shoes and black socks.

Lion Band Parents,
Congratulations are in order for three of our Lion Jazz Band members. After trying out at the Region 9 Jazz Auditions, Brett Harrington finished 7th earning the 2nd spot in the second jazz band, Landon Orrick finished 4th earning the 2nd spot in the second jazz band, and DJ Haynes earned the 1st bass trombone spot in the 1st group. DJ will have an additional upcoming opportunity to try out for the All-State Jazz Band next month.
This is our “bye” week in the football schedule, and, as such, we do not a football game this coming weekend. We hope everyone enjoys the Friday off.

Pep Rally – Friday, Aug. 30th
We will have our first pep rally of the year this Friday. Band students can wear their blue band t-shirt or dress in the theme of the pep rally which is Hawaiian or tacky tourist.
All band students will be released 3rd period to the band hall
At the start of the 4th period, the drumline will begin playing in the gym foyer
The band will report directly to the gym
At the conclusion of the pep rally, all band students will remain in the band hall until the bell for 5th period/lunches rings
Football Game vs. Magnolia – Friday, Aug. 30th MISD Stadium
This Friday is our first football game of the year. Due to budgetary restraints, we ask that you the parents/guardians transport your band student(s) to the MISD stadium for home games of which there are only four this year. Football game start times this year are at 7 pm and not 7:30 as in previous years. All band students will change into the blue band polos for the game(not t-shirts) with their gray shorts black shoes and black pants. (T-shirts are for the run-through and polos for the game) Our Friday afternoon and evening will be as such:

Please know that regular attendance to afterschool band rehearsals are crucial to the Lion Band meeting our yearly goals. Every student in the marching band has an important role to fulfill particularly those students who have a marching spot on the field. When student attendance is irregular, it creates confusing situations for students who are present trying to relate their position on the field to students who are absent. Before we as directors begin enforcing negative consequences for lack of attendance to mandatory rehearsals, we ask that you please review the attached official band attendance policy.

In addition to apparel, the band has a required shoe for all marching band performances. New members and members who have experienced significant physical growth will need to purchase the shoes from the link below. From past experience, we know that these shoes tend to run a ½ size too small, so we recommend that you purchase the purchase the shoes at least a ½ size larger.

Lion Band Parents,
Last Saturday was a fantastic first performance of the first portion of this year’s marching band show. We looking forward to our first half-time performance at next week’s 1st Varsity Lion Football game. As we have had some time practicing in heat, please ensure all students are taking precautions to stay healthy in the adverse conditions like continuing to hydrate themselves outside of rehearsals. All students should make sure that they have proper attire for all rehearsals including their white band t-shirt, shorts, athletic shoes and plenty of water.

Future Marching Band Rehearsals
Please be aware that due to the excessive heat of the past few weeks, we may need to alter our rehearsal schedules in the future to accommodate the safe and necessary rehearsal time for our UIL Marching show. As such, next Monday, Aug. 26th, we have changed the times from 3-5:30 pm to 5:30-8 pm. Our Lion Football team has already adapted their schedule to something similar to account for the heat. Mr. Martinez and I will be reviewing futures rehearsals accordingly. This may include other later practices or canceling some weekday rehearsals in favor of Saturday morning rehearsals when the weather is more cooperative. Please be on the lookout for future schedule changes, and we appreciate your understanding of the present difficulties.

Mr. Martinez and I encourage every Lion Band students to take private lessons to improve their musical comprehension and to give them the ability to be successful at all of our musical competitions. Our private lesson staff offer very reasonable rates in order work individually with your band student at the highest standards. We’re happy to say that we currently have enough private lesson staff to accommodate every instrument, which has not been the case in the past. Please understand that we may lose access to these outstanding music professionals if not enough interest is shown to justify their time to travel to Montgomery. Understand that participating in private lessons is the key to every successful band program in the state. Please contact me at your earliest convenience if you think that you would be interested in private lessons.
New York City Trip
Mr. Martinez and Mr. Cameron at the Montgomery Bear Band have collaborated to provide an opportunity for the bands to travel to New York City from Thursday, March 6th, 2025 through Monday, March 10th, 2025. There are two attached documents. One is a signup form, and one is an itinerary of events with costs explained. This trip is being offered at a rate as low as $2349 per person for students who room with three other occupants. Although the forms say that the first payment is due by July 1st, please note that the final registration date is September 1st. We would love to have as many students as possible to join us on this incredible trip.
The travel agent for the trip has recently informed us that we may lose the chance to book the New York Philharmonic concert if there is not any more interest shown in attending the trip. If you are interested in attending the scheduled trip to New York City, please register for the trip at your earliest convenience. Lion Band Parents,
We had a great end to our daytime band camp on Friday last week. We’ve made great progress on our marching show during the last few days, we genuinely feel as though we’re more ahead with this year’s show at this point than any other year. We will have a performance on Friday afternoon for our incoming freshman class. Please see below for details.
Summer Marching Band
We will continue with our afternoon/evening rehearsal schedule as below today and Friday. Due to Friday’s Roar event, we will not rehearse on Thurs., Aug 8th.

It’s been great to see everyone this week and to get started another season with the Lion Marching Band. There is a lot of information below including upcoming fees, purchase of band apparel and some information from our wonderful Lion Band Boosters. Please ask if you have any questions at all.

Marching Band Shoes
In addition to apparel, the band has a required shoe for all marching band performances. New members and members who have experienced significant physical growth will need to purchase the shoes from the link below. From past experience, we know that these shoes tend to run a ½ size too small, so we recommend that you purchase the purchase the shoes at least a ½ size larger.

Band Dues
Operating a competitive marching band comes with many costs including music purchases, drill writer fees, competition dues, instrument maintenance, as well purchasing flags, colorguard uniforms, drumsticks, and many other items. Due to these associated costs we ask that families of students contribute to those costs. Fees will assessed through the district’s My School Bucks portal through which you will receive an email and invoice through the email you provided to district for parent contact. This year fees will be assessed as follows:
$350 per marching band member
$400* per percussionist and colorguard member – This fee has been reduced by $50
Families with siblings with receive a $50 per student discount
Please allow sometime for the fees to be assessed as it may be sometime before fees are submitted in accordance with class rosters. While fees can be paid throughout the school year, please do so at your earliest convenience after you are notified so that we can fund our early events. If you have questions concerning band fees, please feel free to contact us.
Private Lessons
The Lion Band cannot compete at the high musical levels that we are required to in our region without the educational support of our exceptional private lesson staff. Mr. Martinez and I encourage every Lion Band student to take private lessons to improve their musical comprehension and to give them the ability to be successful at all of our musical competitions. Our private lesson staff offer very reasonable rates in order work individually with your band student at the highest standards. We’re happy to say that we currently have enough private lesson staff to accommodate every instrument, which has not been the case in the past. Please understand that we may lose access to these outstanding music professionals if not enough interest is shown to justify their time to travel to Montgomery. Understand that participating in private lessons is the key to every successful band program in the state. Please contact me at your earliest convenience if you think that you would be interested in private lessons.

Mr. Martinez and Mr. Cameron at the Montgomery Bear Band have collaborated to provide an opportunity for the bands to travel to New York City from Thursday, March 6th, 2025 through Monday, March 10th, 2025. There are two attached documents. One is a signup form, and one is an itinerary of events with costs explained. This trip is being offered at a rate as low as $2349 per person for students who room with three other occupants. Although the forms say that the first payment is due by July 1st, please note that the final registration date is September 1st. We would love to have as many students as possible to join us on this incredible trip.

Lion Band Parents,
I hope that everyone recovered well from hurricane Beryl and is back on track with a great summer. We’re looking forward to starting our 2024 Lion Marching Band season. All band members should promptly report next Monday between 7:30 and 8 am. There is a lot of information below. Please ask if you have any questions at all.
On a side note, if you know of anyone who is not receiving this email, please let me know. My campus computer had taken a turn for the worse earlier this summer, and I am working with limited resources to get this information out to as many people as possible. Thank you for your understanding.
Summer Marching Band
We are so excited to be welcoming back our returning Lion Band member and new incoming 9th grade Lion Band members. Summer marching band begins this coming Monday, July 22nd. We will begin promptly at 8 am, and we will continue through each day until 4 pm. Our daily schedule will be similar to the following times:
7:30 am – Band hall opens; meet & greet
8:00 am – Walk to grass practice field behind the home football field; marching fundamentals practice
10:30 am – Last daily marching evaluation; walk to band hall
11:00 – 11:55 am – Lunch
12:00 pm – Sectionals and/or full band music rehearsal
1:45 pm – Break
2:00 pm – Full band and percussion rehearsal
4:00 pm – Dismissal; student pick-up
Students should dress lightly in t-shirt, shorts and athletic shoes (no sandals). Every student should bring a large refillable water bottle for water breaks. Water will be provided, but bottles will not be. All students need to bring a packed lunch every day as food will not be provided. No students are allowed to leave the campus once practice has started even for lunch. Lunch delivery will not be allowed in the interest of time.
Driving to Lake Creek
Please be advised that due to construction you will be unable to use the north entrance at the traffic light on 2854 to drive to the building. All vehicles must turn in at the south entrance of the school, which does not have a light but is less than a quarter mile from the north entrance.

Lion Band Parents,
Congratulations to our students who competed at last Saturday’s UIL Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest! The tuba-euphonium quartet consisting of Garret Muckleroy, Robby Boyd, DJ Haynes and Reed Rice received gold medals for their superior rating. Hannah Cullinane, Cole Harrington, and Julia Louwerens received silver medals for their excellent ratings on their solos. Soloists Jessica Lofton and Landon Orrick received gold medals for their superior performances. As this was our largest group to ever take to the event, we could not be prouder of every student who participated in the State Solo and Ensemble contest.
All instruments and personal items should have already been removed from students’ band lockers. All school-owed musical instruments should already have been returned to the band hall. Instruments may be checked out to students on Monday, June 3rd, at 9 am for summer practice on the basis that instruments are available that are not in need of repair. This will also be the final day to pick up any personal items left behind in the band hall. Any items left in the band hall will be disposed of or donated after this date.

End of Year (Overnight) Trip to Galveston
All students’ bags will be checked for contraband upon arrival to the band hall on Wednesday morning. No previously opened containers of food or drink will be allowed on the bus previous to departure. Students who require medication need to have their medication packaged with instructions at given to Mr. Boozer to administer at the appropriate times. Prior to entrance at Schlitterbahn, students will be given ticket into the park and a wrist band for their pre-paid lunch. Please ensure that swimwear is appropriate for a school trip.

Summer Instrument Check-Out
Next Monday, June 3rd, the band hall will be open for summer instrument check-out from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm. Instruments will be checked out on a first come, first serve basis and will be dependent on the availability of instruments not in need of repair.
Summer Private Lessons
This summer the Lake Creek Band Hall will be hosting summer private lesson teachers courtesy of the Montgomery Jr. High Band director, Mr. Robert Munoz. Lessons will begin next Wednesday, June 5th. Times will be determined by the individual instructors. Please follow the link below if you are interested in continuing musical studies for your student this summer. Mr. Martinez and I are staunch advocates for the private instruction as it helps build the musical ability of the band program, and we encourage any and all Lake Creek Band students to take advantage of such an opportunity.

Not only did we have great sendoff for our fantastic seniors in the jazz band, but we also caught of glimpse of what is to come with the Oak Hills Jr. High Jazz Band’s great performance. Lion Band Parents,
We are currently in preparation for our upcoming concerts next week. On Monday, May 6th, we’d love to see as many people come see our Lion Jazz Concert featuring the Oak Hills Jr. High Jazz Band with our Lake Creek Lab Band and Jazz Ensemble. On Wednesday, we will have our final performance of the year featuring the color guard and our state bound ensembles as well as our Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble. We looking forward to putting on some great shows for you!

To stay with the theme of our last pep-rally of the year, upper classmen may wear a college shirt and under classmen may wear a sports jersey of their choice, both with jeans. If band students don’t dress in the theme, we ask that everyone wear their band polo and jeans.
Marching band students will be excused from 3rd period to report to the band hall
The pep-rally will take all of 4th period
Students will return to 5th period after the conclusion of the pep-rally
Friday, May 3rd – Drumline @ Lone Star Elementary Pep-Rally
The drumline has been asked to perform this Friday for a pep-rally in the morning at Lone Star Elementary. As we are unable to request a bus that early in the day, the students will be transporting themselves to and from Lone Star Elementary
Drumline students will be excused Friday from periods 1 – 3
7:30 am – Load instruments; depart for LSE
8 am – Setup
8:30 am – Pep-rally begins
9 am – Pep-Rally ends; load instruments; depart for LCHS

Lion Band Parents,
Congratulations to the Wind Ensemble on their success at the UIL Concert & Sight Reading Evaluation! The Wind Ensemble earned straight 1s in both their concert performance as well as their sight reading portion afterwards. Since the band also received a superior rating at the marching contest in fall, Lake Creek was given its first true UIL Sweepstakes Award for earning superior ratings in marching, concert and sight reading. This is a momentous occasion for the band as it is a culmination of all the hard work our students put into the band this year at Lake Creek.

Any band member who intends to try out for section leader and/or drum major must attend the informational meeting this Thursday in the band. Additionally, we would like any current leadership members to attend in order to assist with the meeting. Mr. Martinez and I will discuss leadership opportunities for a short time after which time students will work together on the marching technique teaching component for all candidates and conducting technique for the drum major candidates.

Concert Uniforms for Concert and Sight Reading
We ask that every band member begin to piece their uniform together in preparation for our UIL Concert and Sight Reading evaluation that are as soon as Wednesday, April 10th.
All boys in band will be checked out a tuxedo jacket and a bowtie & cummerbund. In addition to those items, boys will need black dress shoes, black socks, black slacks and a white tuxedo shirt. Tuxedo shirts need to have a pleated front and a wing collar (not a lay down collar). Amazon has many available such as this: https://rb.gy/800njs
All ladies will need black pants, a black blouse with sleeves that no shorter than ¾ length and black shoes that cover the entirety of the feet. No open toe or open heel shoes, please.

The Jazz Ensemble had an amazing performance with the Houston Jazz Orchestra last Monday at Dosey Doe in The Woodlands. Everyone was blown away by their incredible performance. It was truly a night to remember.
Our UIL Concert and Sight Reading Evaluations are coming up quickly. The Symphonic Band’s schedule for next Wednesday is below. Also, please read the information concerning the concert uniforms below so that everyone is in the proper uniform on their evaluation date.
We very excited for the Band Banquet that our hard-working Lion Band Boosters have arranged for this coming Saturday! The front door of the school will be open at 5 pm for all attendees and we will promptly disperse at 9 pm.

At the Inaugural Klein Forest Jazz Fest last Saturday, Mar. 23rd, the Lab Band received a trophy for their excellent performance. Lauren Leyva on Alto Sax and Julia Louwerens on Tenor Sax were both recognized as Jazz All-Stars. The Jazz Ensemble was selected as the selected as the Best High School Jazz Band of the Day! Both Kate Allmon on Alto Sax and Reed Rice on Baritone Sax were selected as Jazz All-Stars. Carter Huget was selected as the Most Outstanding Trumpet Soloist of the Day. What an outstanding week for our Lion Jazz Bands!

Jazz Band @ Dosey Doe – Mon., Apr. 1st
The Lion Jazz Ensemble has been asked to open for the Houston Jazz Orchestra at their performance at Dosey Doe – The Big Barn in The Woodlands on Monday, April 1st. In anticipation of the performance, we have added an additional Jazz Ensemble rehearsal this Good Friday from 8 am – 10:30 am.
Tickets for the concert are $15 plus fees and taxes. Dosey Doe will serve dinner before the show starting at 5:30 pm. We hope that as many of you as possible can come. Lion Band Parents,
We had a very successfully showing at the Region 9 UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest this past Saturday. The earned a collective 76 medals in total including 64 class 1 medals which are for performing the highest difficulty of music. Among those class 1 medals 48 of them will proceed to the state solo and ensemble contest in Austin on the Memorial Day weekend. 7 of those students of those will be performing solos at the state contest while the others will be participating in small ensembles. Once again our 48 State Solo & Ensemble entries have doubled from the previous year. We could not be prouder of the students’ hard work and efforts for which they deserve to be recognized. What an outstanding job by the Lion Band.

Lion Band Parents,
What a great week at the Texas Music Educators Association annual convention. Mr. Martinez and I saw several great clinics and performances, and Carter and Jessica had two amazing performances with the All-State Jazz Band and the 5A All-State Band, respectfully.
There will be a band booster meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 13th. Please see below for information, and please review the documents that are attached to this email.
UIL Solo & Ensemble This Saturday
Region 9 Solo & Ensemble is Saturday, Feb 17th. Participating students have submitted the appropriate fee and commitment contract as this is solely a volunteer event. Please note that this date is a day after a student holiday on Friday, Feb. 16th.
Students will need arrive at the contest site, Oak Ridge High School, 27330 Oak Ridge School Rd, Conroe, TX 77385 at least 30 minutes before their event begins. I have a attached a map of Oak Ridge High School. Please note that no students should be entering through the front of the building. Please enter through the rear of the building asked shown on the map.
The schedule for Solo and Ensemble is attached. Times can adjusted if needed, but only within the times that we are currently scheduled. This means that we can switch playing times within our own events, but we cannot change to the times that are marked with an “X” as those times belong to other schools.
Solo & Ensemble Practice
The band hall will be open every day after school this week from 3-5 pm for solo & ensemble contestants to practice and/or receive coaching from a band director. In addition, the band hall will be open on the student holiday Friday, Feb. 16th, from 1-5 pm (or longer if needed) for students to practice and/or play for a director.
Lion Band Booster Meeting
There will be a booster meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 13th. The files attached are the documents for this meeting, including the agenda, the November minutes, financial statements and the amended bylaws to be voted on for adoption at the March 5th meeting.

Lion Band Parents,
Tomorrow, the Lion Marching Band will be greeting the incoming Oak Hills 8th grade class here at Lake Creek. All marching band students will be excused 2nd-4th period. Students need to wear their Lion Band polo shirt and appropriate bottoms. This event will begin with the band performing pep songs outside of the auditorium and moving into the auditorium for the entire 8th grade presentation. We will perform the school song with the choir at the end of the presentation at which time all members will return to their 4th period class.
UIL Solo & Ensemble
Region 9 Solo & Ensemble is Saturday, Feb 17th. Participating students have submitted the appropriate fee and commitment contract as this is solely a volunteer event. Please note that this date is a day after a student holiday on Friday, 16th. Once the region provides us with our performance times, we will release a schedule of the day, but we will most likely be loading the bus(es) at around 8 am and returning to the school before the sun goes down.

Next Thursday, all marching band members will take a group photo in uniform after school. Any individual band member who needs to retake their photo or students who missed picture will need to take their individual photo. All color guard members will be taking individual pictures in uniform. Jazz Band seniors are also invited to take a photo as well as any jazz band member who would like to take an individual photo.
The Wind Ensemble rehearses for the Holiday Concert immediately afterwards until 5:30 pm.

Saturday, Dec. 9th - Christmas in Montgomery Parade
The annual Christmas in Montgomery Parade will be this Saturday morning, Dec. 9th. Students need to arrive at the LCHS Band Hall at 7:30 am. Students will be bused to downtown Montgomery for a 10 am parade start. As we cannot depart the parade site until the conclusion of the parade, the band should return to LCHS around 12 pm.
Uniform for the parade will a long-sleeve LCHS Christmas Shirt that will be provided, jeans and a provided Santa hat. Students my wear holiday accessories including elves ears, Christmas lights, etc., and decorate their instrument as long as it is not too distracting to the band’s performance. Additionally, there is a chance of rain, so we ask everyone to be prepared for the possibility.

As our holiday concert approaches, please be aware of our annual tradition of wearing “ugly” sweaters for our concert. We advise students to purchase their sweater in advance of the concert in order to allow for delivery time if needed. Students will wear slacks or an appropriate skirt with their sweater as part of the concert’s uniform.

The Jazz Ensemble will be performing at the LCHS Fine Arts Christmas Extravaganza. This is a joint production with other fine and performing arts groups including choir, theatre, dance and art. Everyone is invited to attend this event to see our fantastic performing art groups.
Jazz Ensemble students need to wear concert black which means complete black dress composed of black socks and shoes, black pants and a black long sleeve top for men. If ladies choose to wear a dress it should also be black, and the hemline should be at least below the knees.
Friday, Dec. 1st – Region Band Auditions @ Huntsville HS
Students who chose to try-out for the Region 9 5A Band will need to meet at Huntsville HS at 4 pm for check-in. Students are responsible for their own transportation. Every instrument’s concluding time will be different, so please have a ride available to contact.
Thursday, Dec. 7th – Marching Band Full Band photo and individual photo retakes
Next Thursday, all marching band members will take a group photo in uniform after school. Any individual band member who needs to retake their photo or students who missed picture will need to take their individual photo. All color guard members will be taking individual pictures in uniform. Jazz Band seniors are also invited to take a photo as well as any jazz band member who would like to take an individual photo.
Thursday, Dec. 14th – Lion Band Holiday Concert – LCHS Auditorium 6:30 pm
As our holiday concert approaches, please be aware of our annual tradition of wearing “ugly” sweaters for our concert. We advise students to purchase their sweater in advance of the concert in order to allow for delivery time if needed. Students will wear slacks or an appropriate skirt with their sweater as part of the concert’s uniform.

Lion Band Parents,
We’re so proud of the students’ performance at Saturday’s US Bands events. It was definitely one of our best, if not our very best, performance of the year. Our 3rd place finish is something for everyone to be very proud of. Thank you to everyone who helped make our competitive marching season such a huge success. This was truly our finest marching season in the history of the school.
We are still quite busy as we still have football playoff games to perform at. Please see the information below.
Also this week, the Wind Ensemble will be sharing a joint concert with our fantastic Lion Choir for our Veteran’s Day celebration Thursday evening. We encourage every band student and parent to attend if possible to honor our veterans as well as former and active duty service members in our community.
The Lake Creek Drumline will also be attending the Rally for Life on Saturday at the Lake House at Grand Central Park. If you have the opportunity to attend, it is shaping up to be great event with many vendors and activities for everyone.

The Lion Band had a great performance at the UIL Area I Marching Contest. Being the Lion Band’s first trip ever to Area Marching, we couldn’t be prouder. Thank you to everyone who made our run at the UIL Marching contests such a success!

It’s been a banner year here in the Lake Creek Band Hall as we have been invited to perform at the UIL Area I Marching Band Contest on Oct. 28th after accomplishing our goal of a superior rating at the UIL Region 9 Marching Evaluation. Wow! What an amazing showing at the Katy ISD Marching Festival last Saturday. The band was selected to appear in their very first finals round of a marching festival. The atmosphere was electric for our student’s Saturday night performance. We could not be prouder of the work that the band has done. Tomorrow afternoon the band will travel to Woodforest Bank Stadium for our all-important UIL Marching Contest. Friday’s home game against Huntsville is also our Band Senior Night as well as our annual tailgate event.

Senior Pictures for Senior Night
Senior pictures are past due, and we still have need of several to be turned in. All senior students have been asked to submit one picture of the student when they were younger and another picture from this year. We have recently been asked that pictures be band related or a picture of the student in band uniform or formal attire from a band event. Most seniors submit a picture from their personal senior picture session from this year. We have currently received very few submissions. Please send all pictures to Mr. Boozer. Thank you.

Due to the inclement weather over the last two days, we have decided to postpone today's rehearsal until tomorrow. We will meet tomorrow here at LCHS 1:15 for a 1:30 to 4:30 pm rehearsal. It is important to give our grass field time to absorb the water and dry out some before we march on it as it could create long term damage to the condition of the field. As we continue through our marching, our marching surface needs to be as functional as possible as we head towards our major contests of the year. Thank you for your understanding.

Lion Band Parents,
We are proud to announce that the Lion Marching Band won our group at the US Bands Madisonville Showcase for our first trophy of the year. Students will be released from 4th period on Friday to prepare to participate in the Homecoming Pep Rally here at LCHS on Friday.
We will wear white shirts and blue shorts to both the after-school practice and to the game under our uniforms. If students must wear a non-Lake Creek white shirt, please ensure it is graphic-free or they will need to wear the shirt inside-out.
We will be performing in uniforms at the halftime performance. All students will need to return to the band hall after the game to turn in their uniform. Uniforms are not allowed to go home as all uniforms will be inspected Friday night to ensure they have been treated well and hung properly.
Additionally, since we are the away team for this game, the administration has asked that all Lions’ traffic enter through the entrance off of Lonestar Parkway. Do not turn into to either front entrance. A parking map is attached. The band will be located on the visitor track near the score board. If you are a season ticket holder, you will still need to purchase tickets online as we are the away team.
*From MISD Athletics*: Lake Creek HS is the VISITING Team and will purchase visitor tickets and park, enter and sit on the VISITOR side of the stadium. Because this is an "away" game for LCHS, fans who hold season tickets for the Lake Creek Lions will need to purchase general admission tickets for this game. All ticket purchases are side-specific. Fans with visitor tickets should park, enter and sit on the visitor side of the stadium and fans with home tickets should park, enter and sit on the home side. Fans will not be permitted to cross back and forth throughout the game.
While tickets are non-refundable, we encourage you to make your ticket purchase early, as we anticipate a sell-out of this game. Please know that if there is a delay or postponement due to weather or other circumstances, your purchase will be valid for this match-up when it is played.

Lion Band Parents,
Congratulations to several members of the Lake Creek Jazz Ensemble! Carter Huget-Hrupp on trumpet and Dylan Wagner on bass guitar won their All-Region audition room out-rightly, and DJ Haynes on bass trombone and Landon Orrick on drums placed second in their rooms. All four students will have the opportunity to record for the All-State Jazz Ensemble on Columbus Day. This doubles our previous record for jazz students recording for the All-State Band. Also earning band placements were Reed Rice on baritone saxophone and Cole Harrington on tenor trombone who will perform with the second region jazz band.
We are very excited to have our first marching contest of the year this Saturday. Please see below for the itinerary. If you intend to pick up your student after our performance in Madisonville, please submit your alternate travel form in a timely manner.

Friday Football Game vs. Waller
The game has been moved back to 8 pm this Friday. Due to the change, we will meet at 6:30 pm (15 minutes later than originally requested) at the MISD Stadium on the field house/natatorium side.
Season tickets will be sold until game time on Friday and General Admission seats went on sale at 8 am on Monday. Here is the link to the general admission.
Senior Picture Request
When possible, could all of our senior parents please forward 1 picture of your band student as they currently are and 1 of them as a child. The current picture does not need to be band related but should be of a relatively high quality (senior portraits are typical), and the younger picture doesn't need to be when they were a baby/infant, but not that recent, either. These photos will be used for Senior Night on the big screen near the endzone before our presentation.

It also allows us to have several hours of practice without regard for the extreme heat that we have been experiencing in past weeks. If any serious conflict arises that prevents a student from attending, please communicate that conflict early as students will face a grade consequence for an unexcused absence. Fortunately, these rehearsals tend to be very pleasant and productive. We look for seeing everyone Saturday morning.

Our first football game appearance and half-time performance is this Friday! Please see below for the itinerary for our away game in Angleton. In addition, we will officially begin or Snap! fundraiser today, Aug. 23rd. Please encourage your band student to submit the minimum 20 emails to get us started on our fundraising goals.

Feed the Lions
Students traveling with the band to the football game this Friday, as well as all other away games, should have a completed a Feed the Lions from and submitted the fees to guarantee your student has a dinner to eat on this Friday and future away games. Students who have not submitted a Feed the Lions form will need to provide their own meal to be eaten before we leave on Friday. Tomorrow will be the absolute last day to submit. Please ask Mr. Boozer for more information so that he can communicate your needs in a timely manner.
Alternate Travel
This week’s game is our farthest game of the year as we are traveling south to Angleton. We anticipate arriving back at LCHS at 12 am at best. If you intend to travel to Angleton in order to transport your student(s) back home instead of riding the bus home, you must complete a district Alternate Travel Form. Please ask Mr. Boozer to forward an Alternate Travel Form to you if you are in need of the paperwork. Please return them no later than Thursday as these official communications must be signed by an administrator prior to departure on Friday.

Snap! Fundaiser
If you have not already done so, please read the attachment and follow the instructions to help us on our fundraising goals for the current year. All funds raised go towards alleviating much of the costs that we will incur this year including things charter buses for various events like next week’s Angleton football game, contest entry fees and, hopefully, some of our Spring Trip fees. Determining what our Spring Trip will be, for example, is very dependent on available fundraising fees. Even the smallest amount of assistance with donations to the band can make a big difference if everyone involved contributes to our fundraising efforts. Again, the official kick-off for our fundraiser is today, Aug 23rd, so we would like everyone in the Lion to be registered to participate before that time.

Thank you for help put on such an amazing welcome for the MISD teachers and staff at Wednesday’s pep rally. We heard so many great comments about the band performances from everyone in attendance.
Please note, this email is being received by every student and parent currently enrolled in a band class. I will be able to adjust the recipients once we have all or our completed class rosters on the first day of school. Most of the information below concerns the marching band.
Change of Rehearsals
Due to an abundance of caution concerning the extreme heat in the afternoons, our principal, Mr. Williams, has allowed us to adjust our schedule to practice in the morning next week much like the football practice schedule discussed in Mr. Williams’ email to all parents.
We will not practice on Monday or Tuesday next week. We will have one practice on Wednesday morning, Aug. 9th, beginning at 7am and concluding at 11 am.
On Thursday afternoon, Aug. 10th, we will take our band individual pictures in lieu of practice.
At this time, practice on Friday afternoon at 3-5:30 pm will be tentative as we monitor weather and seek advisement.

Flip Folders
Flip folders are small containers used to hold music in place of a music stand when the band plays standing at public events. Every student will need one to perform at all marching band events. You may purchase these on your own online, at one of our two local music vendors (Music and Arts in Conroe and H&H Music in The Woodlands), or in the band director’s office. Flutes will need to order their own flip folder as the directors do not carry those specific types of flip folders. If you intend to purchase a flip folder through the directors, please send $10 with your student. If you need additional pages for your flip folder, each page will be 25 cents or $1 for 5 pages.

If your student has not completed their annual physical, please do so at your earliest convenience. Current physical forms will be available in the band hall on Monday, July 17th.

Students must wear clothes appropriate for outdoor activity including a light shirt or t-shirt, shorts, socks, athletic shoes and a hat (optional). We strongly advise the use of sunscreen when outdoors. All students should purchase a large insulated personal water jug for water breaks such as this option available on sale at Amazon: https://shorturl.at/aUW37. All students should have their own container for water as students are not allowed to share water jugs. All students will need to bring their own lunch as no students will be allowed to leave campus during lunch break in consideration of their personal safety. Please ensure that instruments are working prior to arrival and supplies such as reeds and valve oil have already been purchased. Our daily schedule is below.

Poor fitting items
Please try on all band clothing items that you have received tonight if you have not done so yet. If the clothing items that you ordered no longer fit after last year's fitting, please return them tomorrow. We will be able to get the correct size back to you in the near future. Please do not delay this process. We truly need to get any items that fit poorly back as soon as possible.
If you need to return any items, please return them will the order # on the itemized receipt, your name and what the issue with the item is such as if it needs to be a large instead of a medium, etc.
Band Clothing Store has re-opened today
Our Lion Band Clothing store will re-open tomorrow to make purchases through this Saturday, July 22nd. The website for the band clothing is Spirit wear clothing store . Required items include:

If you purchased required band clothing items with our Lion Boosters in the spring, the boosters will be handing out your items today from 5-7 pm. If you did purchase band clothing, please see below. Also, the Frio Pops popsicle truck will be on hand with cool treats for everyone in the parking lot at the Gym/Auditorium entrance of the school. Come by and say hi before we kick off marching band tomorrow morning.
